Small lil update, clamp together. going to take everyones advice about the screws and try that. I have a bunch or random pc screws i'm going to experiment with. here is a vid of me disassembling it and reassembling. I will play with this some more over the next few days and since so many have expressed interested, i will look at ways of sharing the wealth.

How absurd would the ring have to stretch to put it through where the circle goes through the board?

chris, do you own the 3d printer or are you getting them made for you?
My job. We're a small web firm and as a hobby/side projects the company paid for a 3d printer so we all have access to it. So no i do not own one, but i am printing them myself.

I've seen the circuit board for a F150 with remote start, the circuit board is slightly different shape. I assume the automatic Mustang with remote start shares the same remote as the F150.

It might not be a bad idea to have a small hole(paper clip size)over the security button just in case the alarm goes off, then you could turn it off without having to go physically to the car, just a thought....or I guess the customer could do it if so inclined. Again just a thought.

I've got an auto key on the way to him already. I suspect it will be a while, as this is a side project for chrisgonzales

I support this idea 100%. I know companies have to cut corners somewhere to make a profit, but it's surprising Ford would skimp here knowing that the FOB is something everyone notices and interacts with on a daily basis. I'd bet that thousands of people bought VWs just because of the flip out metal key button. Even my Hyundai Sonata had a much smaller and better feeling FOB. I imagine there are more men buying mustangs than women, and thus keeping the FOB in their pocket. This is especially annoying for people that don't use their car everyday but like to have the ability to drive their car at a moments notice; I use to be able to open and start my car with a regular metal key, now with push button start, I gotta car this massive FOB around all the time.

Just to update everyone, i've been making minor adjustments to the clamp version that i originally set out to build for myself.

With all of the interest, many suggestion have come up and want to work on this further. I've never built something custom like this to sell and with it being sorta DIY, i cannot guarantee certain things, but i am no way saying i will not support what i build.

So my question to all of you as what would you pay for this and would you pay for certain features, whether it be buttons, slim no buttons, with key, color and etc. I have to look into basic shipping, which really isn't a probably an envelope or padded should suffice anyways.

Also before i officially decide to offer this I would have to be an official sponsor and incur costs associated with that.

I will continue to work on this, i'm not stopping here but i need to properly judge the demand for this product before i make any financial commitment whether it be a little or alot.
