Looking for recommendations for tool box sets

So over the years I have bought many specially tools for different cars, learned the wonder of specialized tools. A lot of them have moved back and forth between my father and myself. It's now to the point where all the tools are so mixed up I don't know what ive bought and he has bought. Moving tools from one garage to another doesnt work for me anymore.

So i am looking for suggestions on something like a box set of tools I can keep in my garage. I would love to spend a couple grand on a set, but its not something that I'll ever need. Ive run out of room in my moveable box, so im looking for something more permanent. Something I can keep, move around roll wise, and add to it if needed. I honestly have no idea where to start with something like this.

Harbor Freight, Lowes, Home Depot. They all have huge assortment. Depends on what you need or want to spend.

Holidays are a great time to buy tools. Best time by far is Black Friday.

Talk to friends who wrench.

Doeends what's closest. Me personally I love husky. It's the same factory as gearwrench but husky tools are home depot so you walk in and walk out with a replacement if they ever break or have any issues. All hand tools have a lifetime warranty even rubber mallets, chew one up beating parts off and you get a brand new one. Harbor freight icon line is also pretty good (overpriced imo) but same thing, lifetime warranty but harbor freights return and exchange policy is alot more questions and headache than it's worth for me to bother, husky I literally am in and out in 5 minutes. Haven't tried Lowe's line but I know more shops than not in my area who professionally run husky hand tools and have 0 issues. I've broken snap on, icon, pittsburg, craftsmen, gearwrench, and no name sockets. I have never broken a single husky tool and I use chrome sockets on impacts going well above their rating and no issues.

Go with whatever brand is easiest to get to. Home depot/husky is closer for me also I do love my Milwaukee sockets too. Which I only got because they are square at the end so no rolling away and you can use a wrench on them (saved me in many tight spots where socket fits but ratchet can't). But the main reason is the case is flat, I like a flat bottom plastic case with a handle so I can pull and slide it around under a car easily. Majority of brands have weird feet or no handle to grab.
