It only takes an allen wrench or a flat screwdriver. The sharp corner on the tip of an allen wrench helps, a blunt tool will slip off the spring you need to press. Its a very simple mechanism and entirely doable by yourself

A diagram would help tho as you’re fiddling with invisible mechanisms

You have angle the allen wrench kinda toward yourself (if you're sitting in the driver's seat) - slide it on the wall of the hole until you feel the spring - it is quite firm.

Btw - there is no tool. From what I remember manual says to use allen wrench.

I used the allen wrench. I found it helpful to look at my steering wheel that I was replacing to visualize where the spring clips are. When you insert the allen wrench in the hole about an inch, angle it down and towards you, as you push it in. It take a lot of luck actually to get it right. I have removed mine a few times. 1st time took over an hour to get that dang spring. 2nd time took about 10 minutes and the 3rd time took an hour again. Here is a pic of the wheel, notice how you have to compress the spring down low and at an angle.

Wasn't even aware they made a specific tool for that. I got crafty and searched for things around the house. Eventually found a kebab skewer that did the trick lol.
