It might belong to wheels and tires section, but people here are very weight conscious and I'm looking for weight reduction specifically.

I'm having 2015-1017 PP wheels that are pretty heavy. I also preffer silver/gun metal to black paint, but this is less important than weight.

What is the best bang for the buck in terms of lightweight wheels out there?

Weld Wheels! Yes, they are pricey but worth every penny. They are very light. I had mine powder coated all black. Weld sent me new hologram decals after the powder coating.

Best bang for your buck would be the LMR/SVE GT7 wheels that are currently on sale for $530 for a square set of 19x10 or a little more for 19x11.

The 19x10s weight in at around 24lbs and the 19x11s are 25lbs or so. For the size and price that's pretty dang good. Other SVE wheels are also just as light but more money.

Other popular choices are APEX wheels, those can be had in the low 20s also for weight but are considerably more expensive ($350-$450 per wheel).

Deal is really good, but not sure ~6lb savings per wheel is enough to justify new wheelset.... and not sure I like the design.

Seems like every time I post on this area of the forum I'm saying the same thing, but in my opinion it bears repeating. I'd rather spend my money on a handful of track days than buy an extra set of wheels.

If you are a couple seconds faster per lap, you don't win anything. And your driving will probably improve more if you drive more versus buying parts for your car.

Sure buy wheels if you want them, but IMO the reason to buy wheels is you want wheels - not that the car will be slightly faster.

Agree. I'm going to autocross once a year and never planned on going to track.

I replaced catback, so this dropped some weight, but then I added rear spare, which added some weight. I guess I'd just like my car drop some weight. That has nothing to do with achieving better autox results.

Just wanted to find out what wheels are good to loose weight and be not very expensive.

Also plan on doing battery relocation.

Weld wheels tend to be narrow on the front. You want a lot of meat on the front for a track car.

Yes, correct. My set-up is for the drag strip not a road track. Lol, I just noticed this was posted in road course section. Sorry!!!!

People use narrow Weld wheels in the front because they are good for drag racing. But Weld wheels come in any width from 4" to 12", so there's no reason why you couldn't run an 18x10 or 18x11 Weld wheel in the front for road course use.

Nice.

I plan on keeping my car DDable, so rear seat would stay in place, it is actually being used.

Also, I'm more concerned about weight in front.

So lightweight wheels in conjunction with battery relocation would help. I removed engine cover, sound pipe, plan on removing hood liner and might consider CF hood in the future.

Well in my personal experience, I have found you should be very critical of your wheels and tires on a road course. I had lighter aftermarket wheels on my ride last october when I had a tire go down. My ride has been under the knife all winter. I am not holding back on the purse strings this time around. I am going all in on wheels and tires. Not for time or speed, but for my personal safety. To be fair my car sees more track time than commute time.

On battery I agree, but replacing catback would compensate for extra cable weight. And cable will contribute to weight at pretty low point whereus battery itself if high up in engine bay. So the only thing that stops me is how weird most of the relocated batteries look in the trunk.
