For those who want to bring track tires to the track but either don't want to stick them in the back seat or who have a roll bar installed, there is always the tire trailer route.

That's cool! I bet one of those little Harbor Freight trailers would work too. (For people on a budget.)

Absolutely. It'd be pretty easy to make your own as well

What tow hitch do you have with that and how much weight does it add? Or do you remove it before the event and put it back on at the end?

The equipment is listed in the first post.
I didn't weigh it before install (bathroom scale was dead at the time) but I think it's around 35-50 lbs. The receiver is on the car tight; no way you could remove it before and reinstall.
I agree, the added weight is gross but other than buying a truck and trailer, this is my only option to be self sufficient. Can no longer fit my track tires in the back with the roll bar in.

How much drilling or cutting is required for installation? Do you have any pictures of the back of the car without trailer? Wonder how discrete it is. Thank you!

It's a shame that hitch is so flippin heavy. I love the setup but dislike the idea of bolting 40+ lb's to the ass of the car.

You'd think someone would have a lightweight option for us? We don't need 2000lbs of towing capacity!

I use a cargo platform hanging off the hitch to carry 3 or 4 tires depending on my mood. Most of the benefit, way less effort.

Do you have a catback exhaust installed with the hitch and is there interference between the two?
I'd like to install the same hitch on my car but I also want to install an aftermarket catback exhaust. On my old 1995 GT, the trailer hitch and Magnaflow mufflers would rattle against each other and I really want to avoid that.

Zero cutting or drilling required to install the hitch. Completely reversible. It uses existing holes.
I will say it's a total pain to install though, very tight fit and the way they have you install bolts is smart, but very difficult and time consuming.

I have axle back installed and there are no clearance issues. It sits between the mufflers and doesn't sit very far forward

Update:
I recently discovered and tested that you can in fact fit 4 wheels in the car even with a roll bar (no passenger seat though.)
One in the trunk, like normal. One squeezes between the down-bars of the roll bar and essentially sits where the rear seats would be. Last two in the passenger seat area. Also fit floor jack, 4 stands, essential tools, and helmet.

I still wish there was a lightweight option. This thing is 10x overbuilt for a tire trailer.

Every now and then I'll walk by my Curt hitch laying in the basement and think should I install it. Then I lift it up and say... "nope"
