Can you explain this? Generally in my experience patriots are good, salt of the earth kinds of people. Being patriotic means you care about your country and you do things to improve/support your country. Which part of that don't you like?
FFS.

Patriotism is the disease that causes flags to hang from homemade flagpoles. It allows people to carry out questionable acts in the name of "god and country".

It also blinds people. Say (for example) a man peacefully protests against unjust acts committed by an arm of the government against people who look just like him. It is patriotism that blinds people to the reason for the protest, and causes them to rise up claiming he's being "anti-American."

@Stage_3.

Two dozen likes in this thread, not one word. Cat got your tongue, bro?
It is his right to be a silent protestor, and probably smarter than all of us who decided to comment in this thread just to be called racist because we don’t agree with your views, I hope you see the irony in standing up for Kap and his rights then turning around and treating everyone who disagrees the same way you think Kap is being treated.

lol. There is irony, alright. Irony that you think I'm treating others in this thread the way Kap is being treated.

Lol, yeah you owe all of us millions of dollars if you were treating us like Kap, other than that this post started out as his right to protest and basically his right to free speech to which you were standing up for. Then it deteriorated into name calling etc. So yes very ironic. The funniest part of all of this is that Nike has had Kap under contract since his playing days and I’m willing to bet they were kicking around the idea of what to do with him because he had faded from the limelight. This ad campaign was nothing more than justifying his contract and adding to their bottom line. You can attack this statement all you want but time will tell.

Nike saw an opportunity to make money, and disregarded the fact that it would further divide people. That is bullshit. He’s not even good enough to play in the NFL anymore

You'd love it here.....it's like California. No NFL so no kneeling, no LA traffic jams, good coffee and great beer. Yes we have ESPN.

Bro,.....I think you're a bitch and a racist piece of crap.
How's that for starters brahhh?
Glad you could make it. You'd love it here too. Melbourne and Boston are sister cities. No snow!

I saw him once at Metlife against the Giants. I'll grant you he's no longer Nick Foles but he's better than most back-ups.

I know you didn't ask me, so feel free to disregard....the way I interpreted what bucray said is loudly proclaiming "I am a patriot" is often the last desperate stand of someone who isn't or who has nothing else to fall back on. A parallel would be Nixon's infamous "I am not a crook" declaration. History proved otherwise. Sorta like the line "the lady doth protest too much" (Shakespeare). The concept has been around for a while.
I think you are right. I was hoping to hear why patriotism is a scoundrel's last resort. It's one thing to lie and say you are patriotic when you aren't, but that wouldn't actually be patriotism. Maybe I'm being too pedantic.

What did Nixon do? Now compare those things to what Obama and his IRS did to the TEA party. I'm sure you are aware that Nixon was a pretty great president. Watergate was pretty minor stuff compared to what Obama is guilty of. And Nixon did a lot of good for the country whereas Obama was mostly destructive.

I can assure you that we will be diametrically opposed on the issues of Presidents Obama and Nixon, so let's just leave it there.

Nixon did some things to interfere with political rivals (and it was wrong and he got in trouble for it), but he didn't weaponize government agencies against his political rivals like Obama did. Basically Obama committed Watergate ^2. I'm not sure whether you don't understand what Nixon did, are denying what Obama and the IRS/FBI/etc. did or what.

Maybe you should read up - some non-fake news. You seem like a smart guy - I'm sure you will get it.

Patriotism doesn't do incorrect things. Flawed people do incorrect things. Like you - judging people by their race and trying to split everyone up into different sides based on race. Patriotism is a great thing. Patriotism brings people together and unites them.

Kaepernick has the right to protest against good people who are trying to do a very difficult job, and I have the right to think he's both wrong and disgusting. Kaepernick is the real piggy here.

Police are trying to do what's right and typically not getting paid enough for it. Kaepernick was a good player for a couple years, but he made millions for playing the game. Now he's done. Very few can play at the pro level for more than a few years. He's all done - he wasn't smart enough, didn't work hard enough - doesn't really matter why. His 15 minutes are pretty much done at this point and he's basically not relevant anymore.
