normal pressures of competition would not allow that to occur on a national basis.
there are basically NO pressures of competition in the USA. People just whip out the insurance card and pay their $10-20 co-pay and NEVER bother to investigate what price the retailer was charging and what the true market rate is. The sick joke is that your so-called "co-pay" is at or higher than the true cost of the drug. So you're giving the "insurance" company the HUGE monthly premium and your co-pay is actually covering the cost of goods. They are making out like bandits. Jimmy Hoffa is rolling in his grave.

The delta between those two examples exemplify the fact that there is a major problem in the supply chain as well as manufacturing. Assuming its the exact same drug, normal pressures of competition would not allow that to occur on a national basis.
So it is supply chain problems instead of retail mark up? Really?

Retail is part of the supply chain specifically, the distribution end.

Yes, i agree to that. But the difference in price is retail markup. Not gouging drug companies.

You're right Doc, but who really knows.... if there are distributors taking a cut, sales organizations taking a cut, logistics and delivery companies taking a cut.....well, you got the idea.

Of course there is, that is how things work in retail. I am not defending it but it is what it is. I am not a retail provider

I have a high deductible insurance plan and people like me have to spend their own money for medication and doctor's appointments. Insurance only kicks in for major expenses. It's been that way for years. I think what you are describing is less and less common.

Me too, I have used this type of plan for years. Keeps my medical costs under control and it is beneficial for me to try and be cost conscious about costs. If everyone would do a little of that billions could be saved a year in insurance costs.
