I only ask what it is doing in the different modes, because this is what the PCM says the pedal is doing in the different modes:

So my question is -- does this device take those values and multiply them? If it does, then it will have an impact on the modes. If it doesn't, who knows what it is doing.

I am planning on buying this due to the positive experiences people have reported.

However, I do not think we have a clear, crisp understanding of what this thing does. If we do, someone please tell me where I'm wrong (I just finished reading every post in this thread). Beef, I plan on ordering through you, but I might wait for my car to arrive and to learn to drive MT

Does it
A) tell the car you have the gas pedal pushed down further than without this device OR
B) tell the car to hurry up and put the throttle open to however far you have pushed the pedal? (and if so, how does it do this?)

This makes a difference. I would prefer option B. There is also a hybrid option:

C) When you push to, say, 25% throttle, for the first, say 100ms, this thing tells your car you have depressed to 100% and then back off to 25% after 100ms?

This would effectively achieve B since it wouldn't just be giving your car more gas everywhere on the range.

How can we use empirical evidence to sort through these options (and perhaps others I haven't thought of)?

In the video he says it "increases voltage and allows the signal to travel much more quickly." I am not sure he understands how electrical signals work, and I still don't have a crisp understanding of what this thing does.

He does answer the question about how that other guy got a check engine light.

100% simply refers to the amount of throttle response it can add. It still retains the throttle where you are holding it, but accelerates how quickly the throttle reacts to your input. So yes it commands 10%, 50%, 100% according to your foot on the pedal. It doesn't matter whether you are using the 60% pill, full 100% or if you have the dial and tweek it exactly how you like. You will still be controlling the throttle completely yourself (aside from the advancetrac nannies).

Next question: can a tune to better than that to improve throttle response? Will it actually change how the "roll on" happens?

I like the nearly linear curve of what the Sprint Booster gives in comparison to the stock system. It is not only an amplifier (what the white paper says explicitly); it is also a throttle flatterer.

This product does not actually change throttle response because, as the white paper shows, there is effectively no throttle lag in "drive by wire" systems.

I still plan on buying it because I prefer the curve it creates. I wish there was a linear-izer that had an adjustable slope, but perhaps that's what the dial does.

Keep in mind that I was speaking about the Pedalmax and not the sprintbooster. Despite some people claiming that they work exactly the same, I have not seen any info from JMS indicating that full throttle is reached before its supposed to. While they do claim better low and mid range response similar to the sprintbooster, there is no mention of full throttle at 75%. I was speaking to what info was available from JMS, my experiences, and others with the Pedalmax. It may also be that the adjustability of the Pedalmax may negate that issue if it is true.

You're welcome. I actually read that a year after it was written when I was contemplating buying it for my (then) 4Runner. I didn't get around to purchasing it because I ended up selling the 4Runner, but I was intending to buy the Sprint Booster. I'm assuming the PedalMax functions ssimilarly if not exactly the same.

I think you'll like the increased throttle sensitivity the product offers. Cheers.

Question for the auto GT premium owners, was the pedalmax worth the coin? I see lots of manual car owners think it is. When you are in sport mode or track, is there much benefit? I run in track or sport almost all the time. Opinions?

I drive in sport or track mode at all times because of the increased throttle response. I'm also trying to figure out if the pedalmax has any benefit for those of us who do...
