Should 18+ JMS PedalMAX work without battery connection?

Yes, I know some people don't like the PedalMAX (or other brands) There are plenty of other threads for that discussion.

I had one on my '15 GT and sold it because JMS said starting with the '18 the unit had to be connected to the battery for a signal it needed. I bought a used one on here (thanks jonrjen!) and when I hooked it up I tried it without hooking up the lead to the battery. Worked just fine and is still working after a week.

Anyone know for sure why? JMS still claims it needs the new signal from the battery.

Did you contact JMS? I assume they could tell why it needs battery power.

Yes. Like I said they claim it needs a signal from the battery. The 15-17 had that signal in the pedal and the 18+ doesn't have that anymore.
