At the risk of being argumentative....the BMRs appear to be "square", while the Kenny Brown units are more like a trapezoid.

The BMRs do appear to be very nicely made and I like the fact that they are closed at the ends so junk won't accumulate inside. My OCD is satisfied by the covers that come with the Steeda version.

I suppose any slight angle once installed is no big deal.
The BMR rails have the mount ends rotated around the long axis relative to the main length of the rail. So the mounting bolts pull the ends tight to the frame and the main length stays parallel to the ground. Thus they don't need to be trapezoid shaped.

I think the brands mentioned in this thread are all very well designed and there isn't a wrong choice here. Do you feel like you went down a rabbit hole yet? Lol.

Well guys, I really searched but didn't find what I as after...which is...and answer on which jacking rails go beyond the edge of the pinch weld.

I've been looking at BMR & Steeda. Just looking at pics, it appears that the BMR units just go beyond the pinch weld where the Steeda pieces appear flush or just bit above.

Thankful for your thoughts..
If you have some basic skills and have access to a bench drill, these are very simple items to make yourself - which then gives you multiple options on length and the amount of pinch weld protection etc :like:

I'm UK based so I get shafted on the price of stuff from the big names, but I made stainless rails for about two thirds the cost of an off the shelf offering :like:

Indeed! I've probably spent more time agonizing over this than the actual car purchase. I appreciate your response. Now that the car arrived...I need to get this done!

I've had the Kenny Brown (RIP) jacking rails on my daily-driver for over a year. No installation issues. The zinc-chromate finish looks as good as the day I installed them. I highly recommend them.

You may want to consider future mods also. The Steeda IRS support braces will not fit with the Kenny Brown rails, but I believe the BMR parts will. I didn't need either of those as I'm completely satisfied with the rear setup in my signature.

Steeda IRS braces will only work with the Steeda Jacking Rails - that is why we developed them the way we did.

Let me know if I can help assist we have 5% discount codes for forum members & 10% discount codes for military, first responders, etc.

Have a great week!

Thanks everyone! I do see how the Kenny Brown ones are shaped differently, to apparently allow them to be parallel to the ground. Is it therefor safe to assume that the other makes are on a bit of an angle? Does this make any difference when they are in use?

It is important to me that the rails extend past the pinch weld. Hard to see in some photos.

My Mustang is awaiting the truck to take it to the dealer so I can't look underneath yet to see how the floor is angled, etc.(My last Mustang as an '03 Terminator that I drove daily for 7 or 8 years...anxious to get behind the wheel of a Mustang again)
I bought the BMR jacking rail and you can see it protrudes maybe 1/16" to 1/8" below the pinch weld (rails are red in color). The only thing you have to do is cut the sealant between the body seams where the rails bolt up to otherwise it won't be flat against the underbody. A simple razor scraper does a fine job of making the sealant flush with the rest of the underbody.

As has already been said, the Steeda rails do drop slightly deeper than the pinch welds. They also are the only rails that fit with the IRS braces. Also lighter than most rails.

I have the BMR’s on my gt350r and they fit perfect with about 1/16” below pinch weld.
I have Steeda on another Mustang and they fit perfect also with about 1/16” below.

I think that you will be happy with whichever one you chose.

I have the BMR's in red. Nicely made and quite beefy and sturdy. I almost got the Steeda ones but I got lucky and the wife surprised me with the BMR's.

Whichever one you choose, I believe you'll be happy with it. It sure makes life a lot easier with these on our cars. 🍻
