Read a lot of posts re engines, but what about transmissions?

Been driving my 2019 Mustang GT fastback with the 6-speed manual, I've read it can sound a little clunky and shift a little rough, and those reports have proven true.

Any recommendations on how or whether I can adjust it to smooth it out?

@djcodeman nailed it. That’s about everything that can be done externally. Much more can be done internally, but it gets very pricey.

What's the benefit of a less compliant trans mount if the engine mounts aren't also changed?

Body mount for this car is fairly good still but a trans mount allows the shifter to fully be compliant on the position of the trans, sometimes the torque from the engine moves the tranny and the body mount vs trans position can cause tough shifting angles. This doesnt really change much with stock or afyermarket engine mounts, i would argue a aftermarket engine mount warrants less need for a trans mount

I did a trans mount insert and the vibration was unbearable. Even tried the small corners of it in there only and, same thing. Took it out almost immediately.

Drove an MT82-D4 with an MGW shifter and it felt nearly as close to my T56 with a B&M ripper.

Engine mounts are also a good idea. I run the Steeda adj. motor mounts in drag race configuration, along with a Boomba trans mount with their black (harder bushings). IMO, removing all flex in the drivetrain, paired with a good clutch will make shifting much more precise.

I’ve heard that a lot, but I must be one of the lucky ones because I don’t have that issue with my upgraded mount.

I used an insert, not a new mount. Can you provide a link to what you have?

Same. With all that vibration, makes me wonder how any of these drivetrain components don't blow up immediately.

I just have a poly bushing instead of oem in the trans mount. I hear a ever so small diff whine or tranny whine but otherwise its hardly noticable that i installed it

Trans mount insert was perfect for me, barely noticeable in my opinion. Haven't been locked out of gear since.

It just helps keep the linkages better aligned on the body mounted shifter. That means it all meshes better. Its just enough to fix the issue.

Upgraded shifter is a "better" solution but colossally expensive.

It may be a little pricey but for about 500$ to get a shifter which shortens the throw massively, fixes 80% of the issue, and makes the feel come through better on the shifter is worth it at least to me

I will point out mt82 will always once in a while do 3rd gear lockout and things like this, the mods only reduce the chance of it
