This goes doubly for their factory custom paint jobs. They look like George Barris rose from the grave and painted every one of them by hand with the most delicate House of Kolor products.
I think you've used a tad too much of the product. Did you read the label for noxious, mind altering chemicals?

I guess I'll give it a try. But nothing is easier or faster than just closing my eyes so I can't see the black. Actually isn't brake dust protective? So it's better to have as much on the wheel as.possible? That appears to be my neighbors stance at least.

HA!

I started using this stuff back in the ‘80s on my Harleys just because of the positive chatter while hanging at the Harley joint. I had low expectations just because well, you know, the ’80s Harley joints and all. But I was shocked at the results. So just for a goof I tried it on my Husky hare scramblers after a meet. You can imagine what they looked like, but they came out brand new. No scrubbing but I did knock off the biggest mudballs before spraying the product on.

I plan to get Wolly Wormit too, heard only good things about it. I have an old wash mitten which I use for it, mostly just wet, after every drive so it doesn't build up. I drive only when it's dry so the car doesn't get much dirty (no bugs in winter, yay). It doesn't make any mess unlike the way @DFB5.0 does it with so much foam 😁

I'm using aftermarket rims that are ceramic coated. Getting them coated will help.

I've read several comments of the factory pads shedding a lot of material. Some have replaced their pads sooner. Something to think about. I continue to use the stock pads.

I do not use a dedicated wheel soap. Gyeon Bath is for my maintenance wash. Two to three times a year, I use Gyeon PPF Wash, which is a mild decon soap. I use both products on the rims.

Physical tools, I have three: 1) Microfiber Mitt, 2) Wolly Wormit and 3) Q-tips.

The microfiber mitt gets the obvious. I use this tool initially.

The Wolly Wormit is a good barrel cleaner. I did some test runs with it on my rims. I can confirm it works well. https://woollywormit.com/

Finally, Q-tips get the really fine areas, the cracks or crevices the other tools cannot reach. I wet a few, and dance them past the fine lines on the rims. One quick pass is often all it takes.

Long-term, you can consider aftermarket rims. A new set of wheels can not only enhance the car's appearance, the weight savings are a quick and easy performance kick. I removed close to 40 lb / 18 kg of unsprung weight, while preserving the factory rims.

Quite conveniently, both the standard Mach 1 wheels and the HP pack wheels are of a colour that you really don’t notice the brake dust all that much.

This is what I used when I had my ’21 Mach 1 with the HP wheels. The different size brushes got in between the spokes on the wheels and the round brush I used on the calipers. This was an inexpensive and very handy set that I bought on Amazon.

Honestly I’ve only ever used Dawn Soap, I mean, if it’s safe enough to get the oil off those poor little ducklings…..
Honestly, I’ve used it on all my vehicles for years and works like a charm spray on let sit five minutes hose off and lightly scrub with a terry cloth any area that need to be, or with brushes that Bruce 8858 mentioned

I just run mine through an automated car wash occasionally and try not to worry about it.

.. but then I also have a gravel driveway, so all my cars are always filthy. I do go through the wash fairly regularly, but the next time I drive home there will be dust, mud or snow on the car, so I either have to stress about it or just resign myself to fate.

Dawn isn’t not safe, it’s just that it’s a degreaser so it will wear down any kind of wax or sealant you have on your paint pretty quickly. It’s more or less a strip wash.

Probably easier to sell the car than to keep those birdcage wheels clean.

LOL Mine stay clean enough, the color is makes all the difference. Its hard to see dirt unless you look carefully, if it was a lighter color like silver then it would be a nightmare.

My wheels are ceramic coated & I use this product. After a track event, my wheels are thick with brake dust and need to be removed from car for post track inspection so it’s the best time to clean. Shake the product bottle and spray on a DRY wheel. I use a synthetic boars hair brush after a short dwell time, rinse & blow dry followed with a clean wheel microfiber towel. great product !!
