Hmm.. didn't expect that

Went to pass someone yesterday with the a/c on (it was 100°) and when I put it into second and went wot, the a/c never turned off. I went through a couple of gears and it stayed on the whole time. I'm usually a windows down driver but it was scorching. I'm surprised I've never noticed this before. I guess my car wants to keep me comfy no matter what's happening? Lol

Only A/C clutch with disengage , and the air will still blow. It does take some time for you to feel it in the car. Going through a few gears is not long enough as the you have to get rid of the cold thermal mass in the aluminium evaporator and all your aircon vent pipes etc before you start to feel warmer air.

I'd investigate as the A/C comnpressor disengaging at WOT has been a standard design practice long before cars had computers. I'd wager the fan kept blowing and the residule "cold" in the evaporator didn't cause much change during the passing manuver? My Mach 1 Trach Attach session was in 100 degree heat and we all ran the cars' A/C with windows up to aleviate the heat. The compressor cut out at WOT but the fan kept blowing at max speed and the car remained cool and comfortable inside.
