Hello,

I'm hoping for some advice.

I have 2017 GT (RHD) manual, Edelbrock 2300, factory CAI, VMP BAP, full engine back exhaust with LTH and cats, id1050 injectors and Lund tune.

Car has been fine for the last 12 months.

In the last couple of weeks I've noticed some knock on the ngauge (+10). I thought it may have been bad fuel but a new tank of fuel from a different location hasn't helped.

I've checked for anything that may be causing 'false' knock and can't find anything.

I've been worried going WOT. So this morning I decided to 'roll' into it in 3rd gear. Just as it builds it completely cuts out power jerks/bucks. It's actually a bit scary at 60mph.

The car has not thrown any codes. Seems to idle and drive fine when just puttering around.

The only change is an oil change about two weeks ago.

I usually use 5w/40 but this time I put in 5w/50. I don't think it would be the issue.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

I'd get it on a lift and look for witness marks where the headers are close to anything.

Check the entire exhaust.

+10 sounds like false knock. Have you sent Lund a log to review?

Last time I saw +8 knock, #6 ring land blew apart the next day.
But yeah, exhaust is usually 90% of false knock issues. Can you boost octane to see if it goes away? The bucking/jerking has me concerned though. Especially since it showed up with knock.....

I've just sent off a log to Lund. See what comes back.

The latest log I have is too large for a Datazap.

I can't upload .csv files here.

I managed to capture issue in the log.

I am not expert in reading them.

The knock sensor is pretty active but random.

No real knock where my issue lies. For example. As I roll into it in 3rd gear it pretty quickly cuts power. Almost limp mode? I release and everything seems fine.

Thanks for responding Cory.

I've had a look but I really don't understand what TQ Source means or pattern I'm looking for.

Over the whole datalog my max tq source is 22, min is 0 and average of 3.29.

Look for a single number anywhere in the RPM range. Not min/max. These are possible torque limiting notifications/actions.

Not a gearhead but as an engineer I always look at my last change,if any when something goes amiss.i found an article on using 5w50 vs 20.in it they comment cam timing can be affected by using higher viscosity oil.maye just change oil back to stock first thing here link

https://themustangsource.com/forums/f726/5w50-5w20-506750/

Btw the 50 oil is 5x the viscosity of stock oil

That link is interesting. I see TS has an Edelbrock SC. What oil do they recommend ?
I have a Roush SC and they recommend 5w50. I haven't had any issues.
Does seem like a connection though with knock starting around the same time as the oil change.

So I've had a look. Over the area where i was able to log the issue i have tq source numbers of 9, 5, 6, 16.

No idea what that means.

This is a WAG, but you are getting tip in and tip out torque reduction. Probably too much spark advance.
