Your ECU controls the transmission, and you likely need to swap the the dash, gauges, etc if you swap the ECU to a GT500... then there are other body modules and fueling which might be expected to be a certain way for a given ECU, so you might end up swapping every electronic component in the vehicle. Its a lot.

I went through something similar to put a GT350 drivetrain into a GT, but I got lucky because they're both manual and the wiring was so similar I didn't end up needing to swap all the wiring harnesses and computers. I don't think the GT350 and GT500 are similar enough to get away with it without doing all of the modules and wiring (but I can't say for certain without a ton of research).

Much easier to just throw a blower on your GT350.

The bmw dct also sounds super interesting. Would be much easier to source here. Question is if the coyote adapter would also fit the voodoo.
It will. Block mounting surfaces are the same.

After reading about multiple dct and zf8 swaps in Europe and from the yt channel zero to 60 i'm gonna try to swap a zf8hp70 into the gt350. I already orderd all the parts(adapter, tcu, transmission, shifter, flexplate...) As far as i know no one yet has swaped a zf into a s550 mustang. I only saw a video of a bmw dct swap into s197.

I'm gonna use the TurboLamik tcu from Poland which everybody seems use. Also it can work with the stock ecu you can manually wire in map, rpm and tps and thats all the controller needs.

Im pretty confident that the physical fittment should be 100% doable. The length is round about 68cm or around 27 inches. Which is almost the same size as the tr3160 and would spare me from a custom driveshaft.

As far as i know since i tried to read up everything i could fine is that the 10r80 is not only much harder to integrate it is also worse than the zf8. Regarding the dct the zf is not only smoother, launches better, holds more power and is almost as fast as the dct. Thats why bmw ditched the dct in the new m cars.

Doesn't the zf have a torque rating lower than the dct? I know the zf is rock solid fiat started putting them in the Dodge lineup back in the mid 2010s. Haven't read up on them recently but I do realize it is a good tranny.

It is mostly limited by the stock pcb in the mechatronics which gets replaced by the turbolamik pcb. You can do all kinds of funky stuff with the lamik including transbrake, clutch kick and other funny stuff

My son has a ZF8 in his SQ5, has a factory trans brake, the trans shifts instantly when you pull a paddle. Shifts are smooth and firm.
