The ZL1 fighter will be the (if/when released) GT 500. High horsepower F/1 car. I see the GT350 as a competitor to the 1le car, or a more streetable version of the Z28.

I originally thought:I know this thread isn't about HP but this quote here got me thinking the R model is positioned to take on the Z/28 that would put the base GT350 in the same position of the lineup as the Zl1 in the camaros lineup do yall think it's possible ford set the Z/28 as its target for lap times but the ZL1 for its target for HP it would make since from a financial front to have one car fill 2 rolls not to mention there's some serious bragging rights in being able to say that Ford was able to make one car that can beat both the ZL1 and Z/28 which are both very specialized in their roles
yeah, I think that's the best compromise. they're not hard to remove for track work. for people making a hardcore performance statement. aftermarket usually sells CF rear-seat delete cover piece.Personally, I don't want rear seats...I don't have kids and I doubt anyone will be comfortable back there anyway. I'll probably remove mine from the base 350, save a little weight and not have to worry about taking people to lunch lol

In the reveal video I thought the presenter (who's name I forget) was talking about the 911 GT3 as being one of the few cars that was track and street ready. He was very good at not mentioning either the Camaro Z/28 or 1LE. It seemed like he was trying to draw parallels between the intent of the GT350 and the intent of the GT3. So, if that is what they had in mind, then I think the GT350R and GT3RS are probably similar in intent as well.I originally thought:
GT350 = 911S
GT350 with some sort of PP, Carbon brakes & rims = 911GT3 & Z/28
GT350R = 911GT3RS, FIA GT3 spec race car with VIN & street legal status
They're saying GT350 is only USA & Middle East. Most of the FIA GT3 spec racers would come from Europe.
So it's looking like:
GT350 = 911S
GT350R = 911GT3 & Z/28
either way.
Z/28 & ZL1 may not be around in '16. Camaro is getting a new generation. Comparisons will be mostly be track times and possibly a '15 Z/28 vs '16 GT350R.
GT500 is more on par with ZL1. Both flashy, cruiser, muscle car & drag-style. Although ZL1 and outgoing GT500 both handled well. I expect any future GT500 to also handle well just be more cruiser/ muscle driven.
If ZL1 & Z/28 are dropped it's possible only ZL1 or ZL1-like car returns in '17 or '18. This will leave GT350R has king of the track and '17 or '18 GT500 king of the street. It's hard to say with Chevy. Some years they refuse to make a nice Camaro to help Corvette sales. Other times they just don't care.

I imagine the GT350R will be similar to the Boss Leguna Seca and then the will make a GT350 that will be track only like the Boss 302SWe have no real info yet and we already want an R version, if it comes, it would likely be race only.
YES SIR!!!!Bigger front splitter like the one on the Nürburgring and rear brake ducts...
...Carbon Ceramic Brakes...Carbon Fiber wheels from Carbon Revolution in 11" F and 11.5" R. Rear Seat Delete...
I hear you, but I still feel that the GT350 will be slotted below the Z/28 and above the 1le. This theorem is of course based on Ford releasing a hardcore version of the GT 350 ( ccb, possibly more aero, Pilot Sport Cups etc.) to compete with the Z/28. With that price range (low to mid 50's) I believe it's natural competitor will be the 1le, which I got to 45K (using the 2ss, recaros, active exhaust), subtract 3, 800 if using the 1ss), just now on the chevrolet configurator (btw, does the 1le have 6 piston brakes up front standard? I honestly don't know and the package does not list them, so if not add $4,315 to the price), PLUS, it will be down at least 65hp going on the GT 350's listed 500+ horsepower). Long story short, I do not think that it will take a GT350 to compete with the 1le, seems to me a GTPP with larger wheel/tire package and a stiffer suspension would be right there.I sure hope the GT350 isn't a natural competitor to the 1LE. The 1LE can be had for less than $40,000. Does Ford have to build a $55,000+ car just to to compete with it? I'll bet the GT350 is superior in almost every measure to the 1LE (definitely will be more money).
