Taking the Boss Formula...

Boss 302 = GT350 (at LA Autoshow)
Boss 302 Laguna Sega = GT350KR?...For King of the Road or GT350SR ...Street Racer
Boss 302S (SCCA and NASA classes) = GT350S?
Boss 302R (Grand-Am Sports Car Challenge Series) = GT350R?
Because of legal implications no way would they call a car a SR for Street Racer.

Actually, from what I have seen, the GT350R will be similar to the Laguna Seca, as in it will be a higher performing version of the base GT350, here is what I've heard from "sources"

GT350R will hold the same options as the GT350 but with the following additions:

-394mm/380mm Carbon Ceramic Rotors with the 6 piston and 4 piston setup
-19x11 and 19x11.5 Carbon Fiber Wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires in 295/35/19 and 305/35/19
-Rear seat delete with X brace
-Improved magneride suspension programming
-Larger sway bars
-Brake duct cooling
-Carbon Fiber Driveshaft

There has been talks of the GT350S, which will be a non street legal version, similar to the Boss 302S.

The carbon wheels cost $15k if I remember correctly. Obviously they won't be that expensive when the car comes out.

How would this setup compare to the existing Z28? Specifically tires but all the rest too?

Estimated price for the GT350? I would say $65k+
And it'll definitely be a lot lower than that as affordabllity was a priority in the program and the lead engineer has gone on record saying we'll be surprised at the price.

I'm going to take a guess and say they would be very competitive against each other. Z28 has a significant torque advantage over the GT350/R, but I'll give weight and handling to the Mustang.

The current gen Z06 and previous gen ZR1 and Carbon Edition Z06 used the Pilot Sport Cup tires as an optional tire, and it shaved off quite a bit of lap time off.

I hope rear seat delete is not include, maybe an option. It don't weigh much. Just seems like a big waste of space. I understand Miata, S2000, Corvette not having a back seat, because there's no room. But to have room and leave it empty for 20lbs seems silly. Like how Z/28 left rear seat in. They used lighter foam & deleted folding feature which added up to ~8lb savings.

guess it's just one of my pet peeves.
Remember how how the original GT350 addressed the issue?

It's for the X brace.
