It will very very close even with the extra heft, as they stated, the track pack car is dead even with the C7 Z51. In terms of sound and driver enjoyment I think it will win by a wide margin

But why dont we wait until the cars are actually in the hands of owners/magazines/professional drivers before we start bench racing about lap times no mere mortal will be able to replicate anyway :shrug:
Car & Driver 10 Best?
Motor Trend COTY?
North American COTY?

Hmm. I bet Motor Trend will still be sold on Kool Aid and vote that dang new Checy Volt as COTY. The other accolades are possible.

I hate bench racing but I disagree on it being close as there were many iterations of the Z06. The Z07 package added the suspension (Magneride), wheels and tires from the ZR1. That car was 4 seconds faster than the C7 Z51 around Laguna Seca, both driven by Randy Pobst. It was 3.5 seconds faster than the z/28 as well. Add that up over 5-10 laps and it's not even a contest.

I plan on purchasing a Tech Pack car but I'm realistic in my expectations.

With all of the "important" numbers being tossed around, we are forgetting to toss around one, if not THE most important: Price.

There are few cars in the world that can boast that much performance for the dollar.

I don't have any grand illusions its trying to compete with the 100k Z07 package car, talking about a base C6 Z06. It will still likely lag behing simply due to less over all grip and more mass, but I think it will be respectfully close

Don't forget, good tires too:D.

I agree with you too.
Ditto. When you're racing the wind in the Northern AZ or South Utah desert, does it really matter how much it weighs? :D

Amazing automobile. Just can't get past the ADM. Maybe toward the end of the model run.

That is all...

The weight is not at Challenger SRT8/Hellcat levels, although not light like a Vette or GT3 either. The bottom line...it doesn't matter for the vast majority of us and how we will be realistically using this car. If you think it matters for you personally, then I'd like to see who employs and pays you for your professional racers abilities behind the wheel of a car.
Isnt the new Z06 at 3600lbs or just below? The M3/4 had to drop two cylinders to drop weight. Every other high horsepower performance car is between 3500-4000lbs. The GT350 is right their beside its peers.

I'm more interested in seeing what happened to thr weight distribution, if anything. If I understand correctly, the S550 GT has about a 52/48?

weight distribution is a meh spec to me. Some of the best handling cars in the world are 41/59. WD probably going to be similar to the GT

Ecoboost was that. GT is 54/46.

3524 so only slightly lighter than the GT350, but also 650hp with the supercharger.

But it also starts at $80k, so $15-30k or more in price gets you a lot of room to lighten your materials.

Regardless of the weight its gonna run like a rapped date! But it still sucks they couldn't get it into the 3500 range with full fluids. Now the big question will be how much bolt ons horsepower can the new fpc make or how high will it turn with a tune? 8800-9200? Imagine the sound of that with no mufflers on a back stretch!!!!!!!!!
