mustang is 10" longer than a vette

people be like, mustang shouldve weighed less

Not the "R" version. Also the z06 has to accommodate for the supercharger and beefed up parts to go along with it. Look at the weight difference between a base c7 and a z06.
its still a 2+2 chassis

As long as we're talking about specs, is the GT350 any wider than a regular Mustang/GT/PP? You know, to the outer most points.
The front clip is...1.5-2" or so I believe? Rear is the same

Come on man, just because the seats are gone doesnt make the car magically shrink and eliminate all the extra weight. The track pack and R cars also have extra weight from all the coolers as well.
I was just being a smart ass since you said "4 seater".

Never said it should be lighter than a z06 just lighter than it is. Everyone compared the weight of the gt350 to the heaviest vette that's why I made the point of why it's heavier.

There use to never be a Performance Mustang within 400-600lbs of the Corvette. It seems GM has more trouble saving weight in performance models than Ford does. The gap now stands at 200-300lbs... The difference between an S197 and a 5th Gen.

I think Ford intends on being an underdog in a Z51 fight, Camaro benchmarking has become a step backwards in my opinion.

400-600? Really? Last I checked a foxbody was pretty darn light and well within those numbers of a c4/5/6/7 vette. Even the s197's were working 200-300lbs of a base vette. Maybe if you compare a fully loaded gt500 to a c5 z06 but that's not the norm. Why is it that Chevy is having more of a problem when Ford lost that claimed 200lbs they were shooting for? Seems like all of them are going through the same struggles. I know you hate GM but remember every model of the new stang with a v8 has proved to be heavier than predicted. Ford is just as gulity as everyone else.

Everyone should think about how much the car costs though too. Its going to cost money to start having carbon roofs and hoods and aluminum unibody and...well, the list goes on. I think a good thought would be something like the C63 AMG coupe. Basically built to do the same thing. Run hard but I don't hear anyone really complaining about its handling and it comes in at 3800+ all day.

I think we are beyond Fox Body. Truth is, Corvette is all aluminum now, it would get any lighter. The Mustang has yet to explore that option. With exclusive Z51 comparisons being drawn, I'd say Ford is looking at the Corvette. It is simply the standard in Sports cars, I'd think it's wise for a new standard in Sports Coupes.

The Corvette is better competition for the GT350 for sure. MSRP's are close...
