Still Looking

I am still looking for an R in the great lakes region, if anyone has leads:help:

For me the pros vastly outweigh the cons for wanting the R

Sounds like the $$$ might be a stretch for you. Nothing worse than debt hanging over your head. The best cars are those that you can easily afford and drive them like you stole it.

I know people that get so wrapped up in the fear of depreciation that they never drive their car. They still depreciate and then end up selling 4-5 years down the road with little to no miles on them.

I know pride of ownership extends beyond just driving them but above all else use them for purpose of which they were built.

It's disposable income. I know how cars depreciate and while I could afford to change my mind, my sensible sides imply would not. I'm going to stick with what I buy so I need to get it right.

Not nervous at all. I have a great relationship with my dealer and I know I am getting his first car at MSRP or better.

A month ago he was able to get me a Hellcat at invoice +$500 out of the blue. I was the first person he called. I am very grateful for our relationship.......Steve

All you need is a copy of the DORA Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgment to ensure the factory has received your order. Once you have this, you are set.

When we ordered our GT500 a few years ago, we were in your situation, nervous that the dealer didn't really have an allocation. Those 4 months wait was worse than the 9 months waiting for our son to be born.

The only thing that kept me sane was a user from Ford Customer Service @ themustangsource forum who was able to let me know when the car was being built.

It WILL be worth the wait. The ONLY downside to owning such a spectacular Mustang is that you may not enjoy a stock Mustang the same way you did before your BEAST arrived!

Looking for R in the midwest

Does anybody know of any dealer in the Midwest with an R allocation that is not yet spoken for yet? If so, please PM me.

This will be the most expensive car I've ever had...and it's not exactly DD material. No one has actually driven them yet... It's the price of a nice M3.... Anyone else nervous? The dealer also had allocation for a GT350...thinking I should have bought that and saved some $...would ease the anxiety. ADM was the same on either, $5k.
When I bought my Boss 302 it was the most expensive car I've bought and if I'm able to the get a GT350 it will then be the most expensive car. So I get that part. But comparing it to a M3/4 the GT350 is still the best bang for the buck. The M4 starts at $65K but good look finding a striped down M. Plus most dealers will still ask for a ADM on that. I price out a M4 (Below) and it come up to $75K and that is not will all options available. Even with the $5K ADM your still in a good spot.

I think m3/m4 are still more efficient performers than gt350 mainly because of transmissions offerings(dct). I drive a gt/pp and its clearly more work than a dct/pdk
would be.

Yeah, but that doesn't count as "work". Shifting the car is half the fun. :D

I agree that DCT/PDK is faster, but it really does take away a lot of the interaction. Of course, as I was stuck in traffic this morning, building up the quads in my left leg, I can understand why sometimes a bit less interaction isn't necessarily a bad thing.

But on the open road, nothing beats a stick shift IMO.

I can agree that the 350r is the more interesting and "now" car, especially if you're a Mustang enthusiast. Putting that aside, though... It's about $5k more than I'm paying and I can probably get a really good deal through a friend on an M....so maybe zero difference in price.

I always like to look at the pros and cons so I don't want it to seem like I'm bashing Mustang..but for all of the cool benefits of the 350r, there is also some give, like I mentioned. Lane assist...DCT to name a couple that interest me.

I agree with the open road comment, but a simple thing like taking off from a light with these other pdk/dct's next to you becomes a stressful affair because you need to perform perfect shifts everytime to stay even. not complaining but wondering sometimes.

If you are interested in the more luxurious aspects, then the M3/M4 is a great way to go, especially because you can get all the luxury and tech along with the performance. Unfortunately, Ford doesn't allow you to get the nicer looking touch screen head unit if you also want the track pack. Unless of course you can find an allocation for a GT350R with the electronics pack. But for the regular GT350 you need to choose whether to go for full performance, or more luxury. I think Ford should have offered an option with both, just like on the "R".

Yeah, going to be tough keeping up with a high performance automatic in a straight line. No doubt about that.

Keep in mind BMW does all the maintenance the first 4 yrs. or 50k miles. So the M4.will be cheaper initially.
