Pipe will confuse most, you’re dealing with tubing. There is a huge difference between the two types.
Always reference Tube as the material. In your case 70mm/2.75” tube which is the actual outside diameter of the material. Stick to using .065” or .049” wall thickness which translates into 16 gauge or 18 gauge when using gauge as thickness.
You are correct with pipe v. tubing, but I didn't want to toss more details into the reply.
I also did not want to emphasize that the proper grade of stainless needs to be used.... there are 38 Grades of Stainless Steel. A proper exhaust shop should be able to provide the correct grade - I hope!

OP, not sure where you are getting the $1K price tag. Years ago I got the Lethal Performance brand (made by Stainless Works) and installed it myself. The price is up to $399 now, but still worth it. Took maybe an hour working by myself. No regrets.

For exhaust systems using stainless there is 300 series and 400 series. With 300 series 304/316 or 321 are used, no one really uses 316 due to cost. With 400 series 409/410 are most common, most all OEMs use 410.
304 or 409 get the job done with properly selected filler wire.

I’ll call around local well known exhaust shops and specifically look for 2.75” stainless steel. I think that should get me 95% there 👍 I’d assume they should have the correct gauge if they do this for a living or should I also ask just in case?

I meant instead of buying an entire new exhaust system like an R take-off. Probably should of been more specific!

The factory X is very restrictive (per my own dyno tests). Why you wouldn't go for an LTH or similar x pipe straight pipe is beyond me.

Care to share the dyno charts? I’ve yet to see any manufacture have straight comparisons for stock and exhaust only.

Correct, the factory True-X by design is restrictive and in my opinion is used for only two reasons;
1- Achieving a certain exhaust pitch
2- Sound attenuation
A Sweep-X or Size on Size H will flow a higher exhaust CFM vs. a True-X.

BLine, if they’ll still make one for you. Soo dang gorgeous, I didn’t want to put it on the car. (That’s the complete garbage Borla X I was replacing)

I will try to find the charts from when we did back to back runs in 2020. - OE X vs Shiftek H pipe (yes, H pipe). Picked up an average of about 10hp (with a high of 13 or 15whp on one run) on my 2020 350R on a 100 degree day. I probably posted about it way back then, too.
