Does anyone have sound clips of a resonator delete and welding in stainless steel pipe in its place on the GT350? I’d like to hear how it sounds as I think it might sound a bit different than the x-pipe kits like shifteck/MBRP. Contemplating doing it, but dont want the OEM exhaust to become too raspy.

Update: Found a shifteck pipe for $150 all in and will go that direction. Sound clips seem to resemble the R which is what I’m after.

Search for YouTube videos of the R like galaxy mentioned. That will give you an idea of what it sounds like. It’s probably the best sound to come out of a modern V8 IMO.

It looks like buying 2.75” 409 stainless pipe to replace the resonantors should get me closest to the R sound. Sound right to you guys?

more bass with the non R exhaust, imo. While they are both obviously excellent, I personally like the deeper growl.

Also, the R is a bit louder I think. I already have neighbors and local authorities giving me enough glances.

I went with the 2 3/4" Stainless Steel when the vehicle was only a few weeks old... I love it!!!

Get the 2 3/4" pipe and have it welded in.

Just remember pipe 101 rule:
"If the I.D. becomes larger than the O.D., then you lose the hole."

Thats the route I’d like to take. Im an idiot when it comes to this stuff. Would this pipe work? Any exhaust clips?

Most quality shops that do this will already have the correct dia. stainless steel pipe in stock, or they can quickly get it.
I would not take pipe to a shop that doesn't have the ability to handle the entire job.

Some shops may not want to use material thats brought in. Good question to ask is what stainless they have.
To the OP: Is buying pipe and welding it in about saving a few dollars? I used Corsa for my delete but it was more then others cost wise. Quality is top notch. That said there’s quality delete’s out there for less. I was set up to weld my own in if I wanted. I just wanted an oem appearance. Even on jack stands its not a difficult install with a reciprocating saw. Just don‘t use cheap blades. One of the best, if not the best, mods for a 350. The delete.

I’m really chasing the GT350R sound without spending new exhaust $1k+ type money. So if a shop can weld in 2.75 diameter pipe and get close I’d be extremely happy 👍

Pipe will confuse most, you’re dealing with tubing. There is a huge difference between the two types.
Always reference Tube as the material. In your case 70mm/2.75” tube which is the actual outside diameter of the material. Stick to using .065” or .049” wall thickness which translates into 16 gauge or 18 gauge when using gauge as thickness.

The two X pipes I posted are made specifically for the GT350, so they’re the correct outside diameter (the GT X pipes are 2.5” so don’t buy GT resonator deletes). One is 304 stainless and the other is 409. Easy cut and clamp, they can be welded on as well. Cost is pretty reasonable and most shops should be willing to install them. Some shops make their own as well, just verify what grade of stainless they use as well as what gauge.
