Were you able to switch the pipes from the cabin, or was it just a supplementry system always connected? That is the Boss302
Pretty sure they work all the time...Were you able to switch the pipes from the cabin, or was it just a supplementry system always connected?
Left hand hotdog has a dent in it.
It was technically always open as there was a baffle plate between the side exhaust pipes and the midpipe but they had a smallish hole on them. If you removed the baffles it would increase the sound quite a bit and made it sound more raspy. Sounded great at idle, didn't care for it under load at high RPM though. Were you able to switch the pipes from the cabin, or was it just a supplementry system always connected?

Would have been nice if the front half of this car got half the attention the rear half this car is getting... Yippee, an IRS that has been dissected since it was first seen under the car. Front suspension changed too folks, lets start concentrating on that end since there isn't a lot left to dissect out back.
That said, there is A LOT of S197 DNA in this car. It shows in the rear spare tire well area and the floor pan "frame" rails. It is nice to see the underside of this car though. Looks like Ford went to great lengths to smooth out as much of it as they could.

Hell, it almost looks like you could take the K-member off of the current and swap it onto the older or vise versa.
yeah except it's harder to mod :doh:Yea honestly there's not much difference at all really, I can understand how it didn't really loose weight like we hoped. It looks in all intents and purposes about the same.
Why no monotube shocks up front??????
Well, save for the suspension bits, I didn't really expect the underside to look dramatically different. It is a new generation of the same car with the same wheelbase, engine and transmission. It's not like the underside needs to be dramatically different -- there was no reason for them to reinvent the wheel here.Yea honestly there's not much difference at all really, I can understand how it didn't really loose weight like we hoped. Sorry but I don't know how to show just the picture of the S550 undercarriage but I have a question.

Pardon my ignorance if this is a stupid question.
On the exhaust system, it goes dual exhaust and thru dual catalytic converters then into what appears to be a single something at about the middle of the underside.
After the "box" there are dual tailpipes which go to dual mufflers (or maybe resonators).
So, what is the box that has two inlets and two outlets?
Some sort of single chamber that combines the exhaust gasses before splitting it back into dual exhausts?
Or is it just some sort of cover and the inside stays as two separate exhaust pipes?
The closest I have seen to that is the X-pipe.
Also, are the two black plastic things just in front of the rear suspension the fuel tank?
The box contains an h-pipe....
