That would be a lot more easy that taking that whole under shield off. It doesn't look like it would tilt down either and actually looks like it may be attached to the front splitter as well.

When looking at the underbody photo that someone posted of the Boss 302, you can see a smaller panel that is definitely a different shape and attachment point than the shield of the new car. I had to look at it a couple of times to get the picture right

And yes, agree it will be much easier for the little panel to be dropped!
