I grabbed a few pictures of the suspension components from the Guard GT Convertible that was on the rotisserie stand on Mustang Alley.

We had a very interesting tour with a gentleman at Watson Engineering/Racing at their shop on Friday.

Here are a few highlights.

- The front suspension will need some help for road racing, providing Watson with opportunity for sale of aftermarket components.

- The IRS will be very capable for most drag racing applications.

- Watson has done some dyno testing with the Ecoboost I4 and were amazed at the power it produced with a bit of tuning. No comment on how much power.

- No we could not see what was behind the curtained-off area.

- SVT GT350R and GT350S - No comment.

- FPC - No comment.

Hey guys. I recently got to see a 2015 Mustang display at the Blacktop Nationals in Wichita, KS. I got to say, the exterior looks even better in person than I anticipated. But that's been covered in many threads here. They had a red GT PP up on it's side to display all the naughty bits. I got some pics you guys might be interested in. I tried to get all the potato quality pics out. This is a GT Perf Package car with Brembo brakes and a 6M trans. I gotta say, this IRS setup looks beefy. Enjoy.

Thanks for this. I was reading all the stories of a huge catalytic converter being added on one side. Without the huge suitcase in the middle it looks close to the previous coyote on the front half.

Don't see the oil filter in any of the shots. Is it behind that front air dam cover?

Yes. The oil filter is on the front LH side of the engine, which would put it behind the air dam. It's unfortunate, but using synthetic oil with 6 month change intervals should mitigate the PITA of having to remove the air dam. Probably only a few screws anyway.

Dat center muffler tho! I'm already planning on my first mod being an exhaust system, so I'm not torn up about it. The cats were small seeing them in person, so that's good.

Would have been nice if the front half of this car got half the attention the rear half this car is getting... Yippee, an IRS that has been dissected since it was first seen under the car. Front suspension changed too folks, lets start concentrating on that end since there isn't a lot left to dissect out back.

That said, there is A LOT of S197 DNA in this car. It shows in the rear spare tire well area and the floor pan "frame" rails. It is nice to see the underside of this car though. Looks like Ford went to great lengths to smooth out as much of it as they could.

vs:

Hell, it almost looks like you could take the K-member off of the current and swap it onto the older or vise versa.

On the S197, are they side exhaust pipes too? What was that about?
