On black Friday I intend to buy new wheels: 19x10 front, 19x11 rears. I've been looking for the right tire in 285/35/19 and 305/30/19, that would be good enough to track but also civilized enough for other spirited summer driving. (I have a set of Michelin all seasons on the stock PP1 wheels for use in winter and other times I don't want the more aggressive wheels/tires on). It looks like these Eagle F1 Supercar 3s come in the right sizes, and are relatively cost effective for this purpose, at least compared to sport cup 2s. I've tracked the car on the Michelin PS4S and I know I want something more trackable than those are. Another option in these sizes would be the RE-71Rs, but they don't seem to be as durable or as civilized for non track use. My car is lowered with steeda linear sport springs and pro action adjustable shocks and struts, and IRS subframe braces. I'm not a serious track enthusiast, just want to have fun on the track 2 or 3 times a year.

Anyone have experience with these tires?

Other thoughts?

Thanks,
Dan

Thanks Brian for the feedback. From the lack of responses it looks like not too many mustang owners have experience with this tire.

There may be a reason for that. This is from Tire Rack.

Hi
They are very nice. Ss1le standard tire. Ss1le is faster than 350. Thanks also to the supercar3
Let me ask you a question
Didn't understand if this is mainly track dedicated?
What track experience do you have?
The reason I'm asking is there is a perfect for every single need. But not for all of them.

My original post describes what I want pretty well. Basically a tire that comes in 19 inch 285/305 and is more trackable than the Michelin PS4S, but still somewhat civilized for the street. I'm not competing or doing serious track events, just going for fun. If I go to the track 2 or 3 times a year, I don't want to completely tear up the tires. I get it that going to the track wears your tires down. I'm ok with that. I didn't feel like the PS4S did what I wanted on the track, for everything else they are totally awesome. If I wasn't going to go to the track several times a year, I would just get them in that size.

I want to run these wheels and tires in the summer and on the track, both for looks and performance. I have the the stock PP1 wheels and Michelin AS3+ all seasons for the rest of the time.

Supercar3 is probably your best option then.

I will be getting these Supercar 3 tires in 305 square next year as my dedicated track tire. I can let you know my feedback then if you'd like.

You seem pretty serious about tracking your car. What made you pick the Supercar 3s?

A few different reasons. I wanted a fast tire but ultimately something that doesn't wear too fast. There are faster tires out there but they are done after just a few track days. I'll list my other options

RS4 - fantastic HPDE tire but from what I've seen, hard to come by. Low inventory nationwide
NT01 - another great HPDE tire. 18" size is around $300 something but the 19" size is $430 a tire. Too expensive for my budget.
Rival S 1.5 - very fast and consistent but more of an autoX, TT tire. They have faster wear than other tires.
RE71R - VERY fast but definitely an autoX, TT tire. Good for a couple laps but then they get greasy.
Supercar 3 - similar to RS4 and NT01 but available and not too expensive.

This is all from what I've read and from talking to people who have used these tires. I have no first hand experience with any of the tires I have listed. So feel free to disregard

Great track / performance tire, I have them on my 1LE.

Drove my buddy's gt350 this past weekend with continental extreme contacts and the Eagles were vastly superior in the performance aspect.

Tread life is pretty meh tho

you can even get a set of 3Rs for $1100 installed thru Goodyear and USAA. For some reason the '3' are not available to order online ATM. I have the 3 on the SS/1LE and they are lovely.

Unless you buy your Cup2 at a nice discount, I would buy the SC3.

I've run an autocross and an HPDE on them. 305 square. Was surprised by the amount of grip they provide. Haven't driven them in the wet as of yet so can't comment on that
