Thanks for some good ideas, have a few years to see if anything interesting comes out new and think it over, i do hope that chevy brings the camaro back just for an option and to have some competition for the mustang so mustangs keep getting better too.

OP it really just depends on what you prioritize. There are plenty of cars in the size category 2+2 coupe/convertible but besides the direct competitors being discontinued from Dodge and Chevy there isn't much to choose from. It really comes down to what you are looking for.

The American muscle cars do a decent job balancing price, performance, comfort, practicality, style and quality. If you prioritize say quality of materials and performance then you may look at a European 2+2 coupe/convertible. Similarly, if you prioritize price and performance, you may want to check out something Japanese.

If you really want my $0.02 then I would say you should keep your car and enjoy it for much longer than 3 years.

Call me overly logical but it wouldn’t make sense for Chevrolet to put the Camaro to sleep for a year or two only to bring it right back, even as a very different car like a hybrid. You only have to look at the Corvette as an example. The C8 is a radically different car but they kept the brand continuity on the market.

Also, IMO if I wanted a new but current format ICE only V8 Mustang, I’d sure grab an S650. It just makes no sense for Ford to design and tool up for an entirely new car in the current format that could only be sold for a very short time. Best case scenario would be a hybrid which would be a no-go for me.

You're certainly correct, but they put the Camaro to sleep for 8 years once already.

Yes, absolutely they did indeed. But I’d guess that when they did so they weren’t thinking about just mothballing it for a year or so only to bring it right back but rather an actual discontinuance. My point was just that if they were going to bring it right back why take it out of the market in the first place? But, stranger things happen in the automotive world.

Anyone had experience with the BMW M2 ? did a little research online and it looks pretty nice, will have to watch a few youtube videos on it tonight. & is M2 worth the extra money over the 240i ? about $10k more isn't it . did notice it had similar screens to the S650 though.

I don’t play in the BMW world so someone correct me if I’m wrong but the M2 is the real M car. The M240i is just a 240i with some of the appearance stuff from the M car I believe. So, with the M2, you’re getting the higher performing, more track capable car if that matters to you. Again, I don’t really play in that world so I could have it all wrong.

The M2 screen is smaller than what I had on my 2018 Mustang GT. I had a choice between the M2 and Z4 M40i. I wanted a convertible, so choose the Z4 M40i. If I was younger, my next car would be an M3 sedan. But the M2 I drove was very tempting. It handles much better than my Mustang and just feels more refined, more confidence inspiring. If you are looking for something that feels raw, BMW is not for you.

The 240i has a 2 liter B48 4 cylinder turbo engine, nice but ho hum. The M2 has the 3 liter S58 engine, which is a monster. In stock form, over 550 hp. It's well worth the difference! I would have paid more than that for an S58 in my Z4, but it doesn't fit, so not an option. If you can afford it, the M3 competition is as good as it gets. It will keep up with the GT500.

It is sweet for sure.

I‘ve wound up with both auto and manual 2023 Mach 1s and I enjoy them immensely. I almost traded them both toward a near-new GT500 but crawfished at the last moment because some days I still feel like I want to row my own. Also at 74 with knee and hip replacements it’s good to have options. It’s a ridiculous indulgence but if you can pull it off I highly recommend it!

would try for a GT350 manual down the road I've always wanted a snake, but if I can't squeeze that the manual Mach1 would be next I’m not in love with 650 yet. I'm a Mustang fan through and through like most on this form we upgrade mustangs or keep them. I would add to the collection but not replace a mustang with anything else besides another one. I would love to own a lot of other cars if money wasn't a problem. Lots of guys buy a truck and keep the stang, that is way more practical and nice to have. (His & Hers)

It sounds like the next logical step up for you in a couple of years is either picking up a used low mileage '24 ZL1, a new or used C8, a used S550 GT500, or a Supra 3.0. The Supra is more of a sideways step from a power perspective compared to the GT (similar power to weight ratios), but definitely out handles a Mustang GT or PP1 GT by a wide margin. They are lightweight (~3,300 lbs), fun to drive, and responsive sports cars. They have adaptive dampers and an electronic diff. They are also offered in a manual if that matters to you. I have a '22 Supra 3.0 (non-premium) and it is pretty well equipped as-is, including heated highly adjustable leather seats. I also have a '21 ZL1 A10 and if I had to choose only one, the ZL1 would get my vote. Thankfully, I don't have to choose and get the best of both worlds (big, strong athletic beast or lightweight, quick agile athlete).

Depending on your budget a low mileage used GT-R is another option. Or a used 991.2 Carrera S, or an M4 Comp, or M3 Comp, AMG C63S, or...seems like there's a few German options if you can swing going low mileage/used and have a little more budget.

Love my VW GTI. Quick, corners and handles great. Not too shabby with 241 Hp and 278 TQ for a little car. They tune these for over 300+ HP. Makes a great daily car. Can haul lots of stuff and it’s small enough to park easily. If I were to buy another one I’d look for the VW R with AWD and 315 hp.

At 74, this may be my swan song but I’m still always looking. My problem is nowhere to park it other than the driveway. While having my GT in the drive doesn’t upset me that much, putting a $100K vehicle in it overnight is just looking for trouble. My preference would be a CT5-V Blackwing and then in no particular order an Audi RS5 Sportback, Lexus IS500 or LC500. We are all entitled to our dreams.

The 240i is 4cy turbo and the M240i is the 3.0 inline 6 w/turbo (and has bigger brakes, more rubber, etc). Of course the M2 is the track hero, but the M240i is still a 12 sec car with amazing handling. If you want 3 pedals, you have to go M2 so there's that.

Thanks, I figured someone would know better than me the differences between the 2. My parents owned a 5 series and a 3 series and had nothing but issues with them (mostly electrical) so I got soured on the brand and haven’t really kept up with them.
