I don't remember but i had to reduce part throttle timing in the light to mid range load areas due to it showing knock on the logs. What total timing are they commanding ?

That's a bunch of timing for pump gas.I don't remember but i had to reduce part throttle timing in the light to mid range load areas due to it showing knock on the logs.

My opinion is that the tune is not necessarily bad. It just works for some set of cars.Resurrecting this one - I'm running this on my Australian spec 2017 GT. I believe the export maps may be different or something - they don't have the same codes in Procal anyway.
I fitted the kit to mine at 27000km (17000mi), it currently has just under 32000km (20000mi).
I'm experiencing what sounds like light pinging in the low the mid rpm range on anything other than light throttle.
Our fuels are measured on a different scale over here, but I'm running 98 octane - roughly equivalent to US 93.
When I installed the calibration I carried out a crank relearn and switched it straight to octane adjust - I didn't try the normal map - not sure whether I should have or not.
I've been running an oil seperator since approximately 7500km (5000ish mi) - a UPR at first, then swapped to a Ford Performance after having issues with the fittings leaking on the UPR.
Ford specifies 5W30 for us over here rather than the 5W20 you guys run stateside. I'm running full synthetic Castrol 5W30 oil - I added Ceratec just after the last change at ~25000km.
Not sure whether there's anything I can try to remedy this? The car runs great on the PP2 over stock, so it would be a shame to remove it - but on the other hand I plan on keeping this for a long time, so I don't want to run the risk of engine damage in the longer term for the sake of slightly improved performance.
PP2 and PP3 use the exact same timing maps, I have not found a PP1 to compare If anyone has a read I sure would like to see it.I wonder if pp3 is a better option as it does not change much in rpms ehere pinging occurs.
how about different red lines?PP2 and PP3 use the exact same timing maps, I have not found a PP1 to compare If anyone has a read I sure would like to see it.
how about different red lines?
Same or not the same, but pp3 changes almost nothing in low rpms where pinging occurs in my case and so who knows, maybe pp3 is not prone to pinging.Don't know about red lines but the FRPP2 Auto shifts at 7200 RPM the FRPP 3 auto shifts at 7500.
if its tough to hear it isn't a problem, bro. It's actually pretty tough to hear.. With my exhaust, it has to bounce off of something to actually hear it clearly, can't reproduce the sound while stationary as far as I know.
Sounds kind of like slowly crinkling paper though.
Yeah. I tried a bunch of things including the trick with KAM. I got a set of colder spark plugs, but gave up on this whole pp thing by the time received them.Bringing this one back up, I spoke to our local Ford Performance distributor here in Australia - his suggestion was use the procal to switch octane adjust off, then back on and do KAM reset. I did that and was shocked to find no pinging - then after some more engine start cycles it came back just the same as before.
They have sold hundreds of these kits all over the country and were a bit surprised I was having this issue on 98 RON top tier fuel (ethanol free).
Given we know the tune is commanding a ton of timing in the RPM range experiencing the pinging - would be worth trying a set of spark plugs one heat range colder to try and slightly reduce combustion chamber temps? I know they normally only recommend this for forced induction, but I'm curious if it would make any difference?
I have it on mine with no preignition. So, I guess I should say that I am lucky? Yes, it does make it more fun to drive. It isn't the fastest thing out there, but it is more fun to drive. I use Shell 91 octane. I have used octane booster and it seems to add a bit. I also like adding about 3-4 gallons of Sunoco 100 octane to a tank of 91 once in a while. The car really seems to enjoy that.I have the Ford Performance calibration kit M-9603-M8B and get the 1500rpm ping/knock sound. Only happens under moderate load when fully warmed up. Going up a hill guarantees the noise. The noise is there for a fraction of a second but nonetheless very audible when it happens. It's worrisome not to mention embarrassing when taking off from a stop in traffic when it happens.
It's a shame this kit makes this detrimental sound but really makes the car so much more fun to drive. Thinking I should go back to stock and see if it stops. Apparently Lund can do a tune for this kit but I am hesitant to spend any more money on it and quite frankly it's just pissing me off at this point.
I'm running 94 octane (10% ethanol) but fuel brand does not seem to make any difference.
Going to try some Boostane. But... I shouldn't have to add this.
What are the chances going with a supercharger, would the knocking go away?
What are my chances of FP taking this thing back for a refund?
