If you find anyone that doesn't have one, let me know. I got a single spare for myself, but I'd much rather it go to someone that is trying to get their car out of the garage than for me to have a spare for 6 months from now.I’ll comment. Just got back from Capitol Ford and yes they do have a few filters, they let me buy one, hoped to buy more but they said they are keeping stock for service. Does make sense. Had I been able to get more I planned to offer extras. Hopefully this shortage won’t last much longer. Incidentally they charged me $42.36 + tax, $46.33.
I contacted K & N and they stated that they do not manufacture an oil filter for the GT 500 so I’m not sure what this is about
Here are the alternatives
I will. Didn’t know before driving down there they’d only allow me to buy a single filter, pretty long way to go for a filter but this is what we are faced with.If you find anyone that doesn't have one, let me know. I live only about 10 minutes from Capital Ford
Pretty simple really, think about it this way: K&N makes a filter for some Ford applications (as we see in the video) that is the same physical size as an FL2087. However, for some reason that K&N knows and that we don't, they believe that the filter in question is not suitable for use in the GT500, so they say they don't have a GT500/GT350 filter.I contacted K & N and they stated that they do not manufacture an oil filter for the GT 500 so I’m not sure what this is about
Again, if you choose to use that filter, then that's your decision. I wouldn't say the amsoil filter is superior in every way because it doesn't have the same structural support that the fl 2087 has. Furthermore, should there be a problem, the filter according to amsoil isn't the correct filter for the GT500 or any other vehicle that requires the use of a 2087. That isn't going to look good if there was a problem. That in its own right may very well be an automatic void of the warranty, but you won't know until you find yourself in that spot.superior in every way.
You mean the 2062? That filter is no longer compatible and is no longer a cross reference. My superior comment was in regards to the 2067.
And all of which would void your warranty.A better solution is the one I've already presented. A typical Dorman cartridge assembly has a perforated metal tube that the filter slips over. Then there's no need for fancy and expensive one time use cartridge filters with throw away metal.
Or better yet, a remote filter setup where you run the canister style of your choice.
My point was, if you're going to void the warranty, then at least go with something that's going to resolve or eliminate Ford's choice in the first place.@Tomster dude…bro…trust me…none of this is anything more than gearhead banter between friends. Dead serious.
And yeah….you’re an idiot to be unwilling to run a quality factory replacement cartridge filter, but willing to run a full up remote set up if warranty is your concern! LOL.
