This is a serious question; I simply want to understand.

From the looks of it, the benefits of buying an Ecoboost, over a GT is that one can:
- save on petrol
- save on the cost of the car

But, what other benefits are there?

Thanks

This won't end well. The last Ecoboost v V8 thread had to be closed.

Please may I remind everyone of Rule 3:

3. Inter Model Bashing — The forum will not tolerate any bashing of another member's choice of vehicle, options/equipment, modifications, stock vs. non stock etc. Respect for all models and model years (EcoBoost, V6, GT, GT350, 2015-17, 2018+, etc) is expected of all members. Posting in a thread or section related to a specific trim/model/model year vehicle for the sole purpose of bashing the vehicle will not be tolerated on the forums.

RESPONSE: Deletion of the item and PM sent to the poster, warning that if the behavior continues their account will be suspended, removed or all of their posts will require the review and approval of the Moderators before posting.

You basically answered your own question without the need to start a flame war.

One thing you may want to consider is power delivery. A turbocharged car is much different than a 5.0 Coyote. You may want to drive both and get a feel. Sound is another thing if you're big on that.

ecoboost is a good car. if youre looking for benefits of an Eco vs 5.0, you got the main ones. its cheaper, better eco, lighter. most people got for the 5.0 for HP, dont care about mpg, the v8 sound. its personal choice of your goals and budget allowance.

For me, the insurance was cheaper for the EB. And being about 200 pounds lighter up front, it feels a little lighter in turns.

For me, I didn't notice a big difference with insurance costs going from a Mazda3 to a '18 GT. I still find it weird that my F-150 XLT (3.5EB) was more to insure than the Mustang.

Money wasn't an issue, so I chose the GT. Having never owned a V8, I decided it was time to see what it's like. I don't dislike the EB, but I've owned a ton of FI cars.

For those who have owned both(w/PP) do the performance packs drive the same in the handling/braking dept?

GT PP has Brembos, Eco PP has the base GT brakes. Outside of that, I'm not sure on how they compare, but I'd imagine the Eco still handles slightly better due to the lighter engine.

I considered the Ecoboost when I starting looking for the very reasons you stated. But, for me personally, I came to the conclusion there would always be a voice in the back of my head saying I should have got the GT. For some reason insurance on the eco would have also cost me slightly more

I drove multiple EcoBoost and GTs before making a decision since this is my daily that I'm putting 30k miles a year on...

Both have pros and cons you all ready mentioned.

You really can't go wrong either way.

It took me months to make up my mind ...so I took my old man to test drive both gave him the financial break down of each car and after a week he came back with the GT but said he would understand if next time I visit i drove up in ecoboost.

If you can't decide serious just flip a coin i almost resorted to it lol

Not just on a mustang but VS any ford powerplant
the v8 is a better designed longer lasting package

ask any repair shop
