you can't go wrong with the V8

I'm a little stumped by this comment. So a 2012 with a few bolt-ons was "too nice" to drive, but a 2015 GT with PP, Recaros and a Whipple somehow doesn't qualify as being as nice, so you'll drive it more? So a handful of extra creature comforts make a car too nice to drive? My 2012 was a black premium with glass roof and was black (mods included kooks long tubes, boss intake, jlt cai, borla s type axelback, barton shifter, 93 dyno tune) I felt the car was so nice that I didn't drive it. How could I put miles on something so nice? This time I'm looking for a DD. I'm thinking ingot silver base gt with PP and possibly recaros. I'm planning on the whipple 2.9 that they are developing for this model as well.
My city MPG isn't very representative due to my lead foot. I romp on it quite a lot. Somewhere around 12-13 mpg. It is slightly better now with some carefully chosen modifications I made to the car. That's a pretty good number for V8. What mpg did you notice for completely city driving?
My daily driving requirement is not much, with my previous car I only drove about 800 - 900 miles a month and it was all with in city with lots of stops. My GC gave me 17 mpg in city. I don't feel very confident about 2.3L engine after reading about other EB engines now. :help: And 14 Mustang V8 is actually rated to 18/25 which is slightly better than my GC.
I know it sounds weird! But I only put 9500 miles on that car. I've been riding in cloth beaters my whole life. I figure if I get a base it'll seem closer to home for me. Now the whipple will be there just to give me the feeling I want from a mustang... you know that shakey stomachI'm a little stumped by this comment. It will still do better then the v6. And there is no way they build this engine, claim good MPG and base the car around having to drive at under 40 mph.The eco boost will have to be driven light to get the gas mileage they will no doubt claim. Well lets see how that goes over when owners realize they are in boost almost all the time and the gas mileage is worse than a 6er.
Agree the Ecoboost driven the same as the V6 will get better MPG, especially on the Highway if you keep the speeds around 70. However that gap will be smaller and smaller the harder you get on the gas. I have a 1.6L fusion ecoboost and with lead foot + driving 80mph on HW I get 25.4 combined. 182hp on tap, I think I'd get like 22 in an EB mustang. I get 19.5 in my V8 BMW (300hp)It will still do better then the v6. And there is no way they build this engine, claim good MPG and base the car around having to drive at under 40 mph.
But how much better? Dont forget you are paying extra for a turbo charger. I am too lazy to do the math but its got to be a significant gain and in the real world it wont be. It will never pay for itself based on fuel economy. So, all that is left is the power gain. From my perspective, that is what you pay extra for. Durability is a another discussion but the 3.7 is tried and true.It will still do better then the v6. Do you really think Ford is going to slack, falsely advertise this engine when this is the future, especially in Europe and the first time there which is big for them? But how much better? Never discount Ford to take full advantage of marketing alone and I see they are headed right down this road again. Just beware of the claims on paper. I doubt they will be marketing the Getrag Mt82 much by name though. lol Instead, it will be a close ratio six speed to the unsuspecting consumer.
Well for me, it will shine because I can get a awesome looking car that is actually a sports car with high HP and Torque AND it gets good MPG. I mean the V8 is awesome but for me, I wouldn't get my value out of it nor do I want to drop near 40K for a V8 that will get horrible MPG in the NOVA/DC commute.Agree the Ecoboost driven the same as the V6 will get better MPG, especially on the Highway if you keep the speeds around 70. I think where the EB truly shines is for someone who commutes and also wants to morph into a lead footer come the weekend or whenever.
Well, they did the Cmax and got caught. They had to drop the rating 4 mpgs if memory serves. Dont think for a single second Ford Motor Co is made up of saints and wont try to pull a fast one now and then. Marketing and perception plays a big part of their gig be damned the consumer. Its all about the bottom line. Like I said before you wont see them advertise the Chinese made Mt82 by name and for good reason.Do you really think Ford is going to slack, falsely advertise this engine when this is the future, especially in Europe and the first time there which is big for them?
And the real world is the real world, You put a full spare and then a 300 lb driver who goes 80 all the time and yah, you are going to get shitty mileage in ANY car.
I think you are doubting the 2.3 way too much.
