You could say the same thing about the GT and Shelby GT350.

If it wasn't about money I wouldn't have bothered with a Mustang at all. I would be driving a Ferrari or a Lamborghini.
You are absolutely right...without a doubt. Which proves my point...$$$ is the only factor one would chose a v6 or 4cyl mustang over the 8cyl option.

I think the better question is....How many people sold/ traded a GT for an eco or v6? ;)

My daily driver.
I don't race it or track it.
I wanted all options, without paying 50k.
Most importantly, I don't use it to measure myself against other people I don't know or care about.

So essentially money. I'd love a GT - but I don't need the power, sound, or ego that comes with it. Maybe back in my 20's before I had kids, but what 20 year old can afford a $50k car? I want the power, but don't need it.

I'm one that traded an EB for a GT. I've always driven Mustangs, it's hereditary. I wanted to try a Turbo, having never had one. The EB was a great car, decent milage, and had plenty of power for commuting.

But, I did miss the power delivery and sound of a V8, and Grabber Blue with heavy discounts was the icing. If not for the deal I got, in the color I got, I would have kept mine an extra two years, and given it to my daughter, and bought a GT then.

I am completely satisfied with my Ecoboost in every way except I do wish it had the V8 sound... but when I think about it, I'm not sure I want to spend another $8k + higher insurance + worse mileage for a sound. Then again, if I had a GT, I'd want the GT350 sound, which is glorious.... so never satisfied anyway. I installed a Magnaflow catback and am actually very impressed at the tone it produces.

With the FP tune, this thing is plenty fast and puts a grin on my face every time I drive. I've had fun tracking it and will do so again next year, have no complaints at all.

One slight correction my GT with USAA insurance was less than $5 a month more for a more expensive car, more HP, etc. over my EB Premium. I'll give you the mileage and price though. :D

Mostly just cost, that's why I got mine. Plus compared to my previous car, a Corolla, it has double the power and looks damn good. Down the line sometime I'll probably upgrade to a GT or perhaps a lightly used Cayman.

Sorry that I asked the question again. Albeit, I'm sure it will assist some new visitors, and with current up to date data, too...

I’m almost 60 and I own a house. I was supposed to get a Hyundai Elantra but just could not do it. I got the V6 as a stretch from the Hyundai and bought it from fleet sales. No test drive and it was on the lot so we opened the door with everything inside covered. We negotiated the price for maybe 5 minutes and he asked me if I wanted to pick it up in a few hours.

This is my first non-V8 car and it was exciting to drive a smaller engine. My previous car had an old LT1 engine that only gave me problems so no Corvette for me and no Camaro. I did drive my sister’s car waiting for the final tow truck another exiting first as that had four cylinders. I owned two 5.0 Mustangs in the past so now my years driving Mustangs can be counted in decades and not just years. But if you are young and the car costs as much as a mortgage on a house; then buy the house and drive a shitbox. You will not regret it when you get a bit older. Don’t ask me how I know! Rant over and a different take for what it’s worth.

Hey I just realized I may be the first to go from V8 to V6. There you go! I feel like a rock star! :headbonk:

To be clear, since some post seem to allude to this. I'm not in my 20's, am an adult with a job and have been blessed to be able to pay my bills etc.

At my age (birthday on Wednesday), I'm responsible I've worked hard to get where I am. With that, I've earned the right to buy my car of choice (and pay the bills that go with it). I'm just glad I didn't do it 20 years ago, when I was young and stupid...

I had a 302 HO in a 1990 Lincoln sport coupe :) but I guess I'm going from V8 to 4cyl's so you may be right?

If we're counting previous generation Mustangs, then I went from and 8 to the EB, and then back again.
