I can't see the Rental companies going for EB... turbo = higher maintenance.
As I said.. at least in United States I think the V6 and GT will sell better than Ecoboost. Purest will go for V8 and rental fleet will go for V6. EB is a steal at base price of $26k, but we all know none of us wants to drive the base model anything.

I really Hate the whole "It ain't a Mustang if it ain't got a V-8" mentality. Sure those are the ones that people want from the 60's but that's because there were fewer of them built and even fewer survived. Those with that mentality seem to forget that if it wasnt for the 4 and 6 cylinder Mustangs, there wouldn't be a Mustang at all. Those 4 and 6 cylinder cars are the Profit Leaders that allow Ford to build the V-8 and High Performance Mustangs, which in turn Draw People into the Show Room who eventually Buy a 4 or 6 Cylinder because they can't afford the GT. I for one am More Excited about the Eco-Boost in the Mustang than the GT because IT is The Future of Mustang and will Ensure that the Mustang will be around for a Long Time.

People forget the majority of non fleet cars are premiums, I know the order guide doesn't have the expected percents yet. This alone will send ecoboost sales way over the v6. I am guessing the v6 will disappear in 2-3 years. The adoption rate in f-150s was huge and brought proven reliability to the ecoboost brand. Maybe those who absolutely have to buy the cheapest thing will get the 6 but I'm guessing most will be ecoboost buyers

I think the ecoboost is going to outsell the gt.

The reasoning is not everyone can afford the gt.

I think most parents who spoil their kids will opt for the ecoboost instead of the GT.

I also think most younger buyers 19-25 will opt for the ecoboost as well due to the pricing, fuel economy and "cool" factor. The fast and furious franchise has done wonders for anything labeled turbo.

Yes the pricing is "only" slightly less than a GT, but that slight amount is enough to keep most younger buyers out of the GT range.

Yeah, I agree. Most of the 6s I see that aren't rentals have a ton of options on them (leather, Pony Package, MCA package, MFT). Don't see or know too many people that want a stripped out base car. If people wanted a bare bones A to B car, they probably aren't buying a Mustang of any kind.

Maybe Ford wants to demonstrate the reliability of the Ecoboost to rental companies for a couple years and slowly get them comfortable with adopting it in the future.

I personally plan to get the EcoBoost. While I'd love the GT, it's just a bit out of my price range. Also, while I'd love to have the horse power of the GT and the performance...it's just not practical. It would more be about having it just to have it. At this point in time, I'd rather have the EcoBoost and save money up front over the GT and get much better gas milage.

Also, my first Mustang was an 89 4 cylinder that had no power. My 2nd was a 96 GT that didn't have a ton of power (225 HP if I remember correctly). My current Mustang is a 2003 V6 that I got when I graduated college. It has 195 HP. The EcoBoost is going to give me a nice increase in power anyway over what I have and I think still will be a ton of fun to drive. Again...I'd love the GT...but I can't justify that kind of money at this point in time.
It may not be the most popular opinion on here, but you can get a 14 GT right now for the same or less than you would pay for a 15 eco-boost. If money is really the driving factor, and you really want the V8, I think this a valid and viable option.

I'm considering the v6 only because IDK about the reliability of the ecoboost. I drive 500 miles a week and don't want the possible headaches from a more complicated engine. If I knew it was reliable then yes. The fuel savings would be great along with the higher hp and torque.

I don't think there will be an issue quality wise. The 3.5L ecoboost has been a pretty good motor with few problems. 2.3L should have no issues.

I would think that 50% of Mustangs sold would be the EB.

v6 15%
v8 35%
I think you hit it on the head. I believe that is what Ford would like also... ultimately dropping the V6.

I don't think we can have this conversion yet until we know performance numbers, gas mileage, and also the upgrade potential of the EcoBoost.

If I had to choose between those two I'd probably make the same decision you did :headbang: enjoy the 5.0!

Thanks! Actually did the math now that prices are out and it came down to the difference between the base and premium GT. Still happy with the decision I made.

Now I am just waiting for the final performance numbers on the 15 so I can have my mod target.

Problem is you just never know how reliable something is until its been around a while. Car companies are notorious for pushing something out the door half assed and Ford is no exception. The 3.7/5.0 are know entities. The 2.3 is not and I dont trust Ford any more than I do GM when it comes to new stuff. No way I will be a guinea pig.

I will say Ford is pretty good about not taking any chances on the F-150's because too much rides on that deal but dont think they wont try to slip something in on the rest of the lineup that is marginal.

It's a brand new car. I would strongly suggest the ecoboost over the V6.

Priced out the EB and GT the way I'd buy them and it's $5k difference. If the EB puts out 320hp and gets 33 hwy. mpg vs 440hp and 25 mpg, I think I'll have to take the EB and a tune. Lighter, more powerful and better mileage than the V6 for a small premium, and it should give the GT fits in the tight stuff too, I'll take it.

I have to get an automatic (wife needs to drive it, and won't do a manual) and it looks like the EB Perf. Pack has pretty much the Base GT brakes, cooling, wheels and tire sizes anyway. So 201A, 443, 67E, 68B, 91N, RR for me please. MSRP $36,565
