The number that sticks out to me in that test is fuel economy observed. 19 vs 17. Not the 6 mpg on the sticker. Typical for a Ford Turbocharged engine.
+1 but for anybody that follows the entire Ford line knows of the mpg fiasco where some models were downgraded 6-7 mpg. Cmax and hybrids come to mind but there was 6-7 different models downgraded after Ford got caught . There were legally right and morally wrong and all hell broke loose and...
Ford is scared to death with EPA rated mileage and has finally erred on the side of caution with the Cmax/F usion hybrid disaster. Not only the Cmax but several other vehicles. Fords ecoboost turbo engines have also been beat to death in the real world of not delivering mileage. That my...
+1
Im not into gizmos and gadgets. I want the drive experience and nothing can ever duplicate a V8. Nothing wrong with turbo 4 at all. I dont think the gas mileage spread will be more than 6-7 mpg. Fords turbo engines eat gas. I am just not into all of the extras. Just give me A/c...
Looks like this will be yet another Mustang with a significant weight gain. That is very disappointing. Finally, they have enough power but the weight just sucks the life out it little by little.
Well, they did the Cmax and got caught. They had to drop the rating 4 mpgs if memory serves. Dont think for a single second Ford Motor Co is made up of saints and wont try to pull a fast one now and then. Marketing and perception plays a big part of their gig be damned the consumer...
But how much better? Dont forget you are paying extra for a turbo charger. I am too lazy to do the math but its got to be a significant gain and in the real world it wont be. It will never pay for itself based on fuel economy. So, all that is left is the power gain. From my perspective...
Fords turbo engines suck gas at an alarming rate imo. V6 power with V6 gas mileage and V8 power with V8 gas mileage. If anybody is buying the 2.3 for gas mileage be warned right now and I dont care what the sticker says. Ford has figured out a way to lay down some decent numbers in the epa...
You are a wise man sir. Thank God I am past the I gotta have it right now stage. I am going to sit back and see how these new ones pan out and let the price fall slowly and purchase with rebates. Or, purchase slightly used and let someone else take the hit.
I really dont want all the extra...
Problem is you just never know how reliable something is until its been around a while. Car companies are notorious for pushing something out the door half assed and Ford is no exception. The 3.7/5.0 are know entities. The 2.3 is not and I dont trust Ford any more than I do GM when it comes...
Not doubting the better torque curve but I do question the weight loss that is yet to be seen. Again, what is really going to be gained at what cost? The 3.7 is dead nuts reliable from what I have seen and is capable of 30 mpg. On a budget Mustang I believe the 3.7 will be a better choice...
My beef with the whole eco Boost program is that the 4's deliver V6 power with V6 gas mileage. I am not sure what is going to be gained with the 2.3 eco and more importantly at what cost.
