LOL. Keep in mind that they made claims of it not only being the highest horsepower factory muscle car, but also the fastest. It's safe to say any tires on this thing will be pushed past its limits. Just like the GT500.
The Porsche will prove to be much more expensive over the years. Even if you are lucky and have a bunch of problem-free years, even regular maintenance is more expensive. You can see this thread for some potential issues...
2 main reasons:
1. Need automatic this time around.
2. I can't keep the summer only tires that come with it. It killed me to get rid of less than half-used Goodyear F1 supercar tires because winter was coming.
This is my main concern. I have poked around the Focus ST sites as they have a similar turbo engine. It seems the mileage is there if you can stay out of the boost. If you put on an aftermarket tune (and stay out of boost), it even increases notably. Being that I use these cars for 80%...
I remember the oil embargoes. Our family car became a Honda Civic 2-door in the 70's. It was, ummm, cute. But, I think most people realize these oil shortages are usually temporary, which could possibly be why the turbo did not outsell the v8. I am not sure of the mileage difference between the...
It all depends on the tires. I had an '11 GT, and the factory all-season stock tires were not the greatest. They got me to work, but I took a lot of caution.
I then got an SRT8 Challenger with summer-only tires, and I don't know what I was thinking even trying it in the snow. That was just...
This will not be a repeat of the SVO. Times are very different. Gas prices matter more, and the EcoBoost will be much better than the V8. Price matters, and unlike the SVO, it will be priced about 20% less than the V8 (not just the engine, but the entire car). Now, there is tremendous...
Too late now, but see my post above about the traction control. It makes a huge difference unfortunately. I wish the Ford engineers do a little better job with it this time around. It is very intrusive, and I mirror your opinion about it feeling like an economy car with it on.
I forgot the most important point - you must turnoff traction control. The traction control is very restrictive on these cars. I used to turn off traction control (not the stability control) all the time unless it was wet out.
What you are looking at are the Scat Pack options for the 2014 and older Challengers (and probably 5.7l 2015 Challenegrs). For 2015, there will be an actual Scat Pack model of the RT with 485hp. Prices have not been announced, but it will probably start around $40k. It should fill the spot of...
