E85 Tune Thoughts/Options

Just trying to figure out the best course forward with tuning my car. I have a bone stock 2019 Mustang GT PP1 A10, and I live in a large Texas city with great E85 availability- 4 stations within 2 miles with E! So, my dilemma; I think it makes sense to get a straight E85 tune but from there I am conflicted.

I figure I can run E85 most of the time given Texas weather, but for those times I need to run 93, should I get a flex fuel tune as my other tune or a 93 tune? I am thinking it’s a good idea to minimize flashing tunes if at all possible, and from a convenience perspective,
I imagine I would be adding 93 to that/some quantity of E still in the tank. So if I flash the flex fuel tune on top of the straight E85 tune, will it trigger the alc % learning process by the tune being flashed, or will it only trigger by having a near/empty tank and adding fuel?
How much corn can a 93 tune tolerate being left in the tank or will I need to drain it nearly empty if I switch to a 93 tune?

Again, my ultimate goal is flexibility/convenience for the other than straight E85 tune.

Yes, get a flex tune. Also get a 93 tune with emissions on. The Flex and E85R tunes I have don't have much of it on. Then you have a tune for every scenario.

Yes, the learn process starts when you flash flex tune on after your E85R tune. You want your car as close to E as possible before going to straight 93 or E85. That's why Flex is so great... No re-flashing.

E85R has a very strong mid range over flex but peak HP is about the same.

What kind of performance bennifits could you expect with an E85 tune with 100% E85 in the tank VS. a flex tune with 100% E85 in the tank. Sorry if this is a dumb Q.

More aggressive mid range power as the timing hits a lot faster than flex. That's mainly the difference.

Thats great advice, thanks! Luckily I live in Bexar County, no emissions testing at this point but its a good idea to have all the bases covered. Thanks for the help!

This. Been running straight E85 for around 6-7 months. I toss in some Chevron Techron detergent every couple tanks, just to prevent deposits. Other than that, nothing special needed to run it every day.

I think the annoying part I can think of with E85 is having to fill up all the time. The car just drinks this stuff really fast even if you try to drive it not like a maniac. Everything else about it is great.

Yah, I feel ya on that...i usually get around 160 miles on a tank. But, ya know what they say, gotta pay to play.

In 4500 miles I have run one tank of 93 pump due to out of town trip. Lucas sells a Ethanol Safe product for $8 that treats 80 gallons. I use that every 3rd tank.

Run the E85 tune, I live in San Antonio and that's what I do. No need for flex fuel tune really, just run the tank down pretty low and switch tunes while the car is at the pump. Car will run fine with a gallon of either, ive data logged a bunch and the car adjusts quickly. Flex tunes are neat but not really necessary and lack the aggressive part throttle timing tables, you will feel a pretty big difference stop light to stop light on the E85 vs. flex tunes.

This is where I live as well. If you don't mind me asking, have you tested/logged Valero E85 and who's tune are you running? Valero are the 4 close stations that offer E. Thanks a lot!
