E85 Tune Thoughts/Options

I had Shaun from AED tune my car for flex and E85. I have been running the straight E85 tune since day one. Best bang for the buck, hands down. I will run the flex tune when I want to transition back to 91, say for warranty work, emissions testing or if I can't find any E85.

Agree completely. I got a tester after conferring with my tuner, at his recommendation. I used the flex tune first, noted the Alcohol Percent, then loaded the E85r tune with the same fuel, from the same pump at the same station.
One question though: how often do you think I should check it with the tester kit- the same pump/station?

I have never run e85, but working in the oil and gas industry, I'd say at least every 3or 4 mos. or if anything was fishy. They change up blends and additives according to retailers and seasons of the year.

I really appreciate all the input guys, my wife looks at me like a fish when I start talking about this shit to her lol. I've been pretty happy with AED and he only wants 200 for another tune even with the new manifold, injectors and CAI. So it makes it hard to spend some 550 plus to change tuners. I think I will see what he will do for the Flex/E85r straight tune. I hear that a lot of the torque loss occurs with the flex, so when I want to play I can run the straight. If I need to get out of town I can swap. Thanks

That sucks. I have E70 minimum.

SC as well. All the SpinX stations have that label on the E85 pump.

Ya know, I ask myself the same question. Ive been using E85 exclusively now for about 7 months from the same station. Using the tester for the first 5 times I filled up, it would always come back 80+ percent. So I eventually stopped checking till winter, then it dropped to around 70. My tuner said that was fine and so I've relaxed about it. I monitor my A/F ratio after every fillup and it stays pretty consistent (high 9's). I dont know that there is a right or wrong answer here. Obviously its wise to check but you gamble for convenience and the gamble for me has been based on fairly consistent good quality E85.
