Morning all.

I have a 2020 Bullitt, so 9” wheels up front and 9.5” in back. My understanding is that 275s can fit on a 9” wheel, without being too hard to mount.

if I put 275s up front and keep 275s in back, could I then rotate my tires like a square setup? Or is there something precluding me from putting the 9” wheels in back?

again I realize this might be dumb, I know nothing about wheels and tires mechanics. Just looking at new tires and pondering.

The offsets won’t be right so you really can’t rotate them like a square setup.

Not a good idea. It's not just the difference in wheel width, but they also have different offsets. The 9" front is +45, and the 9.5" rear is +52.5. You would probably need spacers to get those rears to clear the front suspension components, which means adding or removing the spacers with every rotation. Not sure how it would look, but running narrower wheels in back, wider in front, could present its own set of performance and handling issues, which again would change with each rotation.

If you tried to rotate your OEM wheels front-to-back, you would need a spacer in front to ensure tire-to-strut clearance. But the front wheels installed on the back would likely poke out from the fenders.

OTOH, if you bought a new set of four 275/40 tires, then your only advantage is that you would get full warranty mileage (instead of half with a staggered set). Just don't tell them that your wheels are staggered in case you do need to make a warranty claim.

That is certainly an opinion I have not heard before! Why is it you think it’s a waste?
It’s not necessary. You’re not going to get any more miles on them. It’s just a money grab by dealers and it creates more problems than needed.

You can ABSOLUTELY get more miles out of tires if they are rotated. It is also safer to have the tires rotated so they wear more evenly

Also, you don't need a dealer to rotate tires. I do it in my garage.

this post only show your ignorance
Front and rear tires wear differently because they have different functions
Rear transmit power and front direction/turns
Therefore different parts of the tires wear more
By rotating tires you even out the wear and get more mileage out of a set of tires
Will be happy to offer a more detailed technical explanation if needed

Waste of time and your explanation said a lot but had no substance. Save your breath.

I’ll be sure to rotate my 255 fronts with my 305 rears when I get home.😒

Obviously with your choice of tires sizes, you are also showing your ignorance regarding handling
Who doesn’t like a good understeering car !!!!😂
