Car payment: $600/mo (assume high spec EB, low-spec GT, 5 years)They just Uber around everywhere* messed up my text
Yep that’s confirmed by Pericak’s quote from the article... EVERYTHING coming out of Ford will be renamed a “Mustang”....Whatever is offered will be a Mustang and live up to the Mustang expectation."
Try more like $200-300 for insurance for anyone under 25 and $200-300 for gas per month....Car payment: $600/mo (assume high spec EB, low-spec GT, 5 years)
Insurance: $150/mo
Gas: $100mo (WAG and probably low)
$850/mo for transport. Buys you say 70 uber rides at $12 each.
Who's the dummy now?
You can pry the keys from my cold dead hands, though.
That's why people should care more about torque numbers. Horsepower and 0-60 wars are nice, but torque is the thing that pushes you in the seat. How are they going to engage with the vehicle in a way they can feel the acceleration and power?
My guess they'll have 3-5 seconds of ultra-capacitor "boost" mode. Might put up sub-4 second 0-60mph but once the banks are empty, you're back to whatever the engine+generator can produce. Far and away cars just hold steady speed and any flogging on public roads is only good for 3 seconds before you're into Go to Jail speeds for conditions and environment. You don't need a big battery pack for dual-mode operation where the engine is primarily spinning a generator and only under sustained, heavy demand kicks into driving the wheels. That's why people should care more about torque numbers.

33K OTD, 5 years, 3.5%.600 a month for an EB/base GT??!?!!?!
When I grew up, people saw Mustangs as cool cars and many still do. Now there are many recent immigrants who don't care about cars, never grew up with a car culture and may have had more existential concerns than to be interested in cars..plus, im beginning to see a LOT of Americans that seem look at muscle cars, generally with disdain.. Different world for sure. This generation, if it isn’t vegan, vaping, or hanging out at Starbucks wearing hipster clothes then they don’t want it.
At college, I met grown adults who don’t have drivers license or any aspiration to own cars. They just over around and shit.
Blows my mind.
People just seem to care less about this stuff. I can’t imagine Cali etc those cities where this is probably amplified 100 over

I had to pick a number for illustrative purposes. Maybe $450/mo is closer to the median. Doesn't really change the calculus by too much. @martinjlm would know better what average selling price is for sedans across the industry.I paid slightly more than half that in mid '19 and have a $340 ish monthly payment.
