Hey Earl, no problem. I have been working with Kevin on sizing and different shapes but we have come to the conclusion to pretty much keep it as close to the original shape as possible. He also likes the plain black dial like I think many here do. He should be getting the dial on Friday or Monday so may come up with more ideas then.

This morning Kevin asked me if there were any other parts that needed to be improved on in the GT500 and I told him not that I would want to change. So far, he said 21 people have expressed interest in the dial overlay and he needs at least 50 but it has only been one day so I am pretty sure we will get there.

I'm kinda digging the red. Goes with the other red accents like the door sill inserts and Brembo brakes

And if you choose to get a red start/stop button, can go with that too

I thought someone already made shift paddles for the car. Are the ones on the car cheap feeling? Are they not the right size? I can always send him some shift paddles I guess if you want and see what he can come up with.
oem are very nice, but if u look at some designs the company i linked does, id go for a set, black, like any of these:

Submitted my interest. Like both the block and red.

Regarding the shift knob, I believe it is also used in other cars. You might check those forums to see if there is interest. Might help get the project off the ground.

Ford uses knobs for shifting in several cars plus most of their SUV’s. However the style of the knob (design with the little notches around the top, etc.) are unique to each car and no other Ford car or SUV has a knob that looks exactly like the GT500. I don’t want a fusion or Edge or Expedition style knob on my GT500.

I am currently working with Kevin at 5Spurs on designing an overlay that look exactly like the style of the GT500 knob and some with a different design. I’ve sent him the GT500 knob plus photos and measurements of the surrounding console trim area. I didn’t send him the console trim parts because I sent them to Phil at Auto Fanatic to have them covered in Alcantara. This knob idea came up after I sent Phil the parts. I won’t have my car for about a month and these are all parts I ordered from my dealer to be able to work with and have ready once my car comes in. Also allows me to keep the original parts in case I want to use them later.

The knob overlay that Kevin is designing will be about 1/16” larger overall than the OEM knob and will not protrude beyond the lower edge of the OEM knob so won’t be interfering with console trim. We’ve been going back and forth every couple of days with questions, answers, ideas, photos, dimensions, etc. I think in a week or so he will have some renderings I can share. I’ll keep updating when I can.

I like to disassemble things.
I noticed your prototype just spins when sitting on the factory dial. Will your finished piece use a set screw, tape, etc...what will you use to "lock down" the cover into place so it moves with the factory dial?

There'll be 3M tape on the underside of the cover which will bond to the top surface of the factory Dial so both will rotate in sync.
