I try to stay objective in all things. In that spirit after watching the Epoch Times video it became clear to me the goal was to establish COVID-19 as being man made by China. So I did a little research on Epoch Times and found that the media group was founded by Chinese-Americans who are self proclaimed anti-communists. They tend to be supporters of the Trump administration, and right wing European political groups. Epoch has also been linked to conspiracy theories, Q Anon, anti vaccination, and "Deep State". I don't begrudge anyone for having a left or right wing bias or an opinion on the origins of the virus. But, in this age of pick your flavor media, we should all ask what's the motivation when taking in this kind of information.

Ironic. I was thinking the same thing but stayed quiet, because there is some useful info within the video. We invest a lot these days in training and education to help us recognize bias, and invest a lot (though arguably not enough) in countering it as well. Some nations have even started teaching it to school children.

I actually began watching casually, as I was trying to actually watch for the stated purpose. However, it was obvious within the first 10 minutes of the video that there is a veiled message:
- News ticker and choice of outlet in background when mentioning the U.S. - China trade deal (1:06)
- Nation at center view when a UN forum is panned (1:39)
- Choice of subject matter experts: Dr. Markovits; BGen Spalding...
- Throughout the documentary, the background images do not match the narrative; the images are chosen for dramatic effect to the point of being misleading in many instances.

The same is true, to an extent, of U.S. mainstream media (CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc.), but to compare, you would have to multiply both intent and effect 50 times over. The methodologies and approaches used in this documentary are on par with anything the Russians and Chinese do.

I share @Tomster's opinion that there is very likely something odd about how COVID started, and I also think there is useful information in that documentary, but overall, the source and content should be viewed extremely critically.

So I did, Tob and it was impactful to say the least.

That said, Cab does make a few valid points but I think those are as much the choreographical desires of the creator, not necessarily propaganda.

The things that struck me:

Shi Zhengli's successful splicing of the SARS virus was a key to open the door to the Cross-species transmission.

When Shi indicated that they would be testing the new virus on primates, it generated concern by many. One researcher in France said,

"If the virus escaped, nobody could predict the trajectory."

This effort to increase the virulence of the pathogen is research known as,

"Gain of function research."

Not long after, her website was shut down.

Then, more incriminating events in early January 2020. Shi's lab management is questioned and the government puts their top military, biochemical weapons expert in charge of the Wuhan lab.

Just the simple fact that there is a Level 4 Bio lab in Wuhan is extremely coincidental and, frightening.

Yes, exactly. As I mentioned, this needs to be proven. A documentary is not proof. However as stated some points have merit. I dont think any proof would ever be made public for the fear of it starting a major conflict

1. Create a virus and the antidote.

2. Spread the virus. Collateral damage of your own people is necessary and acceptable for things to look right.

3. In a demonstration of efficiency, build hospitals in a few days. After all, you were already prepared, ordering the equipment, amassing the labor, with the prefabricated building materials stocked in an impressive volume.

4. Cause chaos in the world.

5. Quickly tank the economy of dozens of countries.

6. Stop production lines in factories in other countries.

7. Cause stock markets to fall and buy stock at a bargain price.

8. Quickly control the epidemic in your country. After all, you were already prepared.

9. Get back to producing quickly while the world is at a standstill. Reap the benefits.

10. Be the hero down the line by revealing the cure.

^^^^I dont think there is a vaccine. If this was created in a lab, it is probable that it got out due to lax biosecurity measures.

Again, I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist. I said what I said in reply to a message that seemed to be directed my way and I spoke my mind. I do not havemuch more to say except that the world now has to deal with this and defeat this virus using all means available. So if you see me getting on people for not doing the right thing, my appologies.

Both. Dont fool yourself into thinking we dont have labs too. My thoughts were that thank god the pathogen being spread around isnt a whole lot worse.

I'm not trying to drag you or anyone else in, Tom but we're all just sitting here hungry for information.

As for your reply, I have to disagree. The original intent had to be one or the other. And yes, I fully realize that we do the same thing.

But, if this was an accidental release and that fact is proven, that's one thing, and the Chinese should be forced to compensate.

However, if it was an INTENTIONAL release, all bets are off.
