AC did a good job on the dogbones as well as the uprights. Those two items definitely exceeded my expectations.

I’ve been wearing the heritage flight engineer wings for the last 15 years(C-5 FTU instructor). It’s kind of a gray are in the reg whether they’re authorized on the FDU/2PFDU, but literally no one gives a shit or doesn’t know whether or not they can bitch at you lol.
It does surprisingly say they are allowed to wear with any blues combo.

I wondered about the age of those wings, Brian but now I get it. Luckily, the Air Force (for a change ;-) decided to ease up on a rule or two regarding uniforms and took the Navy route..wear whatcha want (within reason.)

I bet you loved that Herc duty and FTR, I've had more than a couple FE's save my bacon over the years and they all knew more about the motor and prop than anyone. I think your FE wings are BA and very old school which I love.

Or sometimes in more simpler terms “I sit between the two stick jockies and make sure they don’t kill us”

I wish I had a FE working with me when I go to work. the problem is that many of these systems are now engineered to be autonomous. When a system fails, we rely on a cookbook (quick reference handbook) to see it to completion.

There is no substitute for a qualified FE to help deal with an IFE, or daily flight for what its worth. i recall in my 747-200 left seat days how invaluable.the FE was. Its a shame they are not part of a common crew anymore.

Hats off to the FEs. You are a rare breed who holds it all together.

He missed the boat on those prices. You can now buy a replica from Andersen Composites or Function Factory Performance for $3K. Only difference is billet uprights instead of forged CF.

I agree with you but for reasons I may not understand, some people would be willing to pay for that Ford stamp (if there is even one on it). If they ever mess up theirs or decide to sell down the road it may be worth it to go OEM.

Just passing along because the only wings my bank account can afford is neither the AC nor OEM wing. With the food price increase maybe no wings.

If you’ve damaged yours and want to retain future resell value or want to keep it completely original then I could see that. But the cost-to-benefit might be upside down if it came to resale.
I’m sure someone out there wants this as a spare or doesn’t want to deal with aftermarket. It would seem the majority of folks who want a CFTP wing don’t mind aftermarket since the two aforementioned companies make nearly identical replicas.

Sadly, this is "the stamp" (peel off) on the wings. Beautiful product but I'm a bit beyond tired of reading those words.

That’s disappointing. Wish they would’ve made the uprights a one-piece setup with an internally welded base. That’s just two more machine screws easily removed for theft. Love the look overall though.
