Mine was NOT double boxed like Tob’s. Just lucky the punctured areas didn’t hit anything. The bubble wrapping was excellent.
However, shipping with the uprights installed is asking for trouble. I had sent them a note requesting that those be removed for shipping and they said it was too late.

This sticker was on the side of the box:
6128890A-FA89-407D-8F9D-96FF1A1E4C9B.webp

So I sent them a note w/pictures.

Will be interesting to see if they respond.

If they ship a wing with amazing packaging it costs a lot for them, plus the labor to package it correctly.

If they ship it with just enough packaging to cover liability it costs less, and if it’s damaged by shipping then the shipping company has to now buy a second wing.

What we consider to be poor packaging saves money and possibly sells more wings…

Or damages your reputation that people just ask for refunds. There’s no shipping company that will pay out insurance on such poorly packed boxes. Hell, even UPS denies insurance claims for boxes their own people pack at the UPS stores! What kind a crap is that!

Don/Tob: MOST happy for you both but dammit, it shouldn't be this difficult or expensive. The world is going to Hell, I swear. Anyway, while I like my factory wing and I know y'all will love yours, this is the set that means the most to me.

Yes I'm a Nasal Radiator, Brian and not the Marine brand but dude, those are some serious awards. How old is that jacket? I have a couple three or four Navy jackets from BITD. I even got an official Winter jacket from a Buff pilot at a Mather air show when I traded the Navy leather one I was wearing. I'll hand in to the AF, they know how to design jackets to stay warm. Uniforms...well? Maybe not so much. <grinning>

Thanks for your service, my friend.

Army Air Force Flight Engineer.

KB, don't think it was him, but maybe his father or grandfather?

Yeah I had a young marine once ask me if the Air Force gave out medals for every year of service…I couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time 🤣
They are actually mounted on my motorcycle club vest. I’m a patch holder with the US Military Vets MC.

Actually they are mine. When you graduate Basic Flight Engineer they would pin you with the authorized Enlisted Aircrew Wings and then hand you a pair of vintage FE wings. Too many Air Force Specialty Codes wear the EAC wings but this one was specific to FEs so I wear it with my mini ribbons on my vest.

How cool is that. I never worked with Flight Engineers. I was a 135 guy. 130s then?

Yessir, although I started my career as a GAC tech on KC-135s at Fairchild. Crosstrained in 2005 to FE and went to C-130s. Last 7 years of my career were on MC-130H Combat Talon II, same aircraft @Goose17 flew.

Looking at your ribbons, we have traveled in the same circles. I don't regret it for a moment,

I like to disassemble things.
AC did a good job on the dogbones as well as the uprights. Those two items definitely exceeded my expectations.
