You won’t notice a loss of torque at the bottom but you also won’t get the same increase as a PD.I have not noticed any torque loss on the bottom end.

Just having a bit of fun. This is going to be a big year for centri cars. @Brad1810r80 on his way to solid performance with the new ESS kit. @SolarFlare about to go 8s with a stock engine and P1x. @andrewtac with a built engine Vortech combo. @Toy Cobra about to go 7s with a Procharger.
With that being said, low end torque is over rated LOL
I get no traction regardless and spin in place unless I'm on DR or slicks. Lower end torque is pointless if you just spin in place until you hook, and when im racing im staying in the upper RPM band 90% of the time. You won’t notice a loss of torque at the bottom but you also won’t get the same increase as a PD.
I have to agree. I couldn't imagine trying to hook with a PD. I've got the MT82-D4 and a drag pack with DRs, and I'm only at 8lbs and I still don't hook when boost hits. Can't wait for the temps to go back up!I get no traction regardless and spin in place unless I'm on DR or slicks. Agree. It is what I like best about the centri. Fast cars are a compromise, this one you sort of get your cake and eat it. It has wonderful street manners, most can't even tell it isn't stock when driving it normal. But when you put it to the floor it is completely different, it just goes. Having a converter the only low end torque I care about starts at about 4300 rpm (which i think i am already around 5psi) and is over in less than second when the rpm gets to and stays in the sweet spot for the rest of the run.Just having a bit of fun. You can, but why vent the excess? Just pulley down and make more power. So with a turbo you can use a smaller turbo to get on boost sooner but you run the risk of not enough airflow at higher rpm. Also you can control boost with a bov.
Everything i see about centris seems to use pulley size to regulate boost. Is there a reason why you can’t do it like a turbo and spin a centri harder with a large pulley to get on boost early and then just vent the excess?
That is a tactic that some use. A small pulley that gets you to max impeller speed, then use a boost controller to bleed it down to what you want.So with a turbo you can use a smaller turbo to get on boost sooner but you run the risk of not enough airflow at higher rpm. Also you can control boost with a bov.

Your internals or fuel can only support so much boost. The idea is to get there as quick as possible. It’s probably not a tactic for the ultimate drag times. You can, but why vent the excess? Just pulley down and make more power.
I'd say PD or turbo would be a better fit for you. It's best to visualize a centri setup as a badass NA setup. If that's not what a potential owner wants, then other types of FI would be a better fit.Your internals or fuel can only support so much boost. The idea is to get there as quick as possible. Maybe, but a centri has a lot of positive aspects I like. It’s just curious since it seems a relatively simple tuning change to mitigate its biggest weakness.I'd say PD or turbo would be a better fit for you. Small pulley builds boost faster, not large. I have went down a couple times in diameter, with the final step coming in spring. I'm not going to add a waste gate to control boost, but rather modulate my right foot. Hard to use all the power it makes on the street now with a 4", but soon I'll be on a 3.625".So with a turbo you can use a smaller turbo to get on boost sooner but you run the risk of not enough airflow at higher rpm.
