If you wanna use you battery, only use the positive! And ground it to the chassis. Important: make sure you are doing the right way when you are handling Positive and Negative. That’s important the order.

“Positive first, then negative. When disconnecting the cables from the old battery, disconnect the negative first, then the positive. Connect the new battery in the reverse order, positive then negative.”

I have some cheap ass Schumacher tender I got at Walmart for like 40 bucks. I put it on in October, take it off in May. 4 years later still works like a charm and my battery is still performing like new.

For sure you can keep one of those, battery tender brand is one of the best, Noco as well. There is more of them, you always can pick by yourself, or in my case, ask for help and Google it and ask advices to good friends. Up to you
