Had Sync 3 3.0. Never got the chance to see what it updated it to.
So you downloaded the file from Ford. Did you format the drive to FAT32? Perhaps it was corrupted or just didn't install properly. Did you happen to interrupt the installation? Have you tried inserting the USB to do the update again before turning on the car? It can take up to 30 minutes for the update to be applied and the engine has to be running.

Fat32 has worked for every update I have ever done. Not saying Exfat was the problem but there seems to be some confusion about what format to use. If Apple carplay is working, your unit isn't bricked.
Try the reset procedure: Hold the Power and Next Track buttons on the dash for 5 seconds. It should restart.

Well can't say you didn't try. Is your car still under warranty? If so, take it in.

The car is currently at the dealership but i finally found some more info, it seems like a lot of people have had the same issue as me back in october with their screens going black. what we all had in common was the ford GT theme it seems as ford removed this and thats the reason for the black screen. I need to revert back to Sync 3 ver. 2.2. I may see what ford wants to do or get my car back

I have heard the Ford GT theme is not present in the new 3.4 version. So if you had that asbuilt loaded when you did the update it likely was using an asbuilt config that no longer existed in the new revision. Makes sense.

OP has a MY17 so unless he updated the APIM the highest he can go is version 3.0.

So lesson learned: Undo your Forscan changes in the APIM before doing Sync updates.

Dealer couldn’t troubleshoot through IDS because of my whipple tune so I went and took my car back and reverted the theme through FORSCAN. Now my screen is back!
