Funny how they are just now doing this. My wife's F150's camera was dead from the start. It was a well known problem at the dealership. They said they change them all of the time. They used cheap ass cameras.

It’s not only camera hardware failure, but the wiring harness failure to the camera. In many instances the wires within the conduit within the trunk break, thus rendering the camera useless.

the cable bundle problem is because some gorilla(s) was assigned to the zip-tie crimping station and they ratcheted it so damn tight it cut thru the wires. Classic case of low IQ robotic workforce doing the same wrong thing and not a neuron firing. Modern man at it's finest.

My 2016 was repaired under warranty because the soft nylon around the wiring chafed from opening and closing the trunk, and they replaced it with hard plastic.

Meh.....it happens.

All cars have issues. This isn't major.

My dealer ordered me a new camera last week, unfortunately, it is on backorder or something because they said it may take a while to get one. I guess I now know why.

They told me the same thing but it was only a week before it came in.

I have been struggling with mine for almost a year. I'm trying to track the wiring. Since it is so intermittent, I can't always expect a malfunction. Wish this recall would have something definitive to help me fix mine.

I don't know if Ford publishes the reason for the failure, though.

Mine has gone black a handful of times, I don’t use it anyhow. After driving large fire apparatus for 25+ years I’ve become proficient at using side mirrors.

Not for the same reasons, but my mirrors are used also.
