That would be awesome if Honda could build something that great. If they would even build a rear wheel drive car with a manual transmission and a power to weight ratio in the ballpark of a Mustang GT I would applaud them.

No way would they put a V8 in it, and I doubt they will ever even build a decent RWD car again. Remember, they charged Corvette money for the S2000 with only a little 4 banger. If Honda tried to build a Mustang it would probably cost $150K.
Not to mention that Honda doesn't even have a V8 yet (not counting their Formula and Indy cars) and their V6 still uses a timing belt which is why I'll only own their 4 cyl. models.

This thread is just another repeat of people who don't understand what common engine noises are. Lets not forget that an engine contains thousands of literal explosions, strong enough to move a 3800 lb car 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. Just enjoy the fact you have a 5 liter V8 in the times we live in and smile!

Not to get too off topic, but I’m starting to car shop for my son who turns 16 in spring 2025. He likes the looks of the Civic hatchback but I’m leery as I too see them show up on the naughty lists. Not that any car is infallible but I was quite surprised to see the amount of Hondas that have pretty major issues (engine & trans)
Always look at the VIN. While very few (if any) Hondas, Toyotas, etc. are made in Japan anymore (first Vin is J) most are made in North America (1 is US, 2 Canada, 3 Mexico, 4 US, etc. and S is England for Civic Coupes). I avoided the 3 cars and especially the K (S Korea) for now until they have a solid track record.

Get him a Mazda 3. I'd personally take a Mazda over any other Asian brand. I wish they would come back out with a small pickup like the B2000's in the 80's. I had a couple of those and they were indestructible. I also had a couple RX-7's. Equally great cars for their era. My sister just looked at a CX50 to replace her Murano. The build quality and interior quality were noticeably better than any of the other mid-size SUVs we looked at.

Mazda got too complicated , the fit and finish are good. I have a 24 cx90 (MHEV) and don't like all the start/ stop, extra 48 volt batteries and the endless computer updates. It drives like a sport car for an SUV. Probably keep it for the duration of the powertrain warranty. I also have a 24 Ram and again too complicated. I guess the good ole days are gone. That s why we see every manufacturer struggling with customer satisfaction.
I could go on and on but the cx90 if it doesn t start there is no way to put it in neutral , need dollies to move it. The Rams, when they don t start there s usually no fast fix, too many integrated electrical systems. It has no alternator but a generator (and 48 volt extra battery). I have the last Hemi too!

You should test drive a GR86. Somewhat similar to a Fox. It makes a little more power than a Fox and weighs about 600 lbs less, but it's in that ballpark of speed. If you are really driven by panel fitment and interior quality you might like it more than a Mustang.

I liked mine, but not enough to keep it more than a year. I didn't trust that flat 4 or Toyota were the main reasons.
I've said before that the GR86 would be perfect sports car with a K swap. That said, I'm not looking for a straight sports car. If I was, I'd buy a C6. I want a GT car. The mustang in theory is exactly what I want: a big, fast, GT car, manual, NA V8. It just happens to be a pile of crap lol

I feel exactly the same way about your entire comment, but C7.

In my experience piles of crap are what you want, lol. Personality adds that extra touch to a car. Makes it more relatable lol

The Honda K motors don't make as much power as the factory Scooby engine. And they probably won't fit under the hood unless you turn them at least partially on their side. Maybe a Porsche flat 6 would be a good swap if you wanted more power.

C6 is a good car if you aren't tall and stay away from the LS7 and its reliability issues. I find them a little scary to drive in traffic, because they feel so fragile and flimsy. I would hate to get into any kind of an accident.

Maybe look at an Aston Martin. They probably align with your sensibilities.

I just put my GT up for sale as I didn’t know it was a total POS until I read this thread. :)
It's only a piece of shit if you drive like an old man. If you floor it everywhere I promise you will only hear the noises of greatness.

I agree on the 3. It is one of the most rock solid drive trains that Mazda makes. Simple 2.5 liter 4 cylinder. Simple old school 6 speed automatic trans, with a dipstick and a drain plug. I have a jacked up 3 (22 model CX5 LOL ) with 96K miles in less than 3 years. Oil changes every 5k 2 sets of tires, air and cabin filters every 30K and literally nothing else. Not even brakes. Very satisfied with my CX5, and the 3 has the exact same drivetrain... Now as Mark eluded to, the newest whiz bang Mazdas are trying to go too upscale, but their lower models are still rock solid for the moment...
