They used to call them poppers in the 60s because they blew up due to poor oiling systems. That's when the 406 came out. Then the 427
You are talking about the FE Ford 390? IMO those motors are bulletproof. But I'm sure there were some failures. I had a 352 FE in my 1965 Ford pickup. Ran great and great power after 45+ years. If the Voodoo is as reliable as the 390 I would be very happy.

I like to disassemble things.
Rebuilt a 390 for my father's '66 Thunderbird. Intake manifold was the heaviest I've ever seen. Changed to an Edelbrock Performer/Holley 1850 vacuum secondary and the engine ran flawlessly. They were heavy but reliable.

The old Y blocks also had a bad oiling system. I have an all original 1956 f100 272 Y block 4 speed with 27000 original miles. You have to keep the oil changed regularly. But back in the 50s they would gum up and starve the top end.

I just left my dealer to pick up more parts and they are installing the new engine right now. The mechanic told me the car arrived on Tuesday and the ford rep arrived that same day. They didn't question anything and ordered the new engine that very day. So in 2 days total the new engine is getting installed. I call that service!!!

Certainly a lot different than derpington's experience.

They shouldn't question anything. The Ford dealer I was a tech at operated the same way. People pay good money for these cars. No need trying to bust their balls the few times warranty is needed.

Awesome! Glad to hear the dealer and Ford is squaring away the car and owner. No doom and gloom hear.
Thanks for the update Scott.

My dealer is the same way. But not all dealers are created equal. I have been to some dismal Ford, Mazda, Chrysler dealers. In fact, I still have an I owe You from a Mazda dealer for an CX-5 I purchased last year. Lucky bastards! I ve been to busy to go and bust their balls.

Well, I went to my dealer today, curious of future allocations. They also have a detail shop that I was dropping the car off to. I get a call about mid day, The shop wanted to know if I was aware of the misaligned front bumper. I said, yes, I took delivery of the car knowing this. He asked my why? I said I was afraid of the quality of workmanship so i did not opt for them to fix it. Well, today I am told that they have fixed two 350's and R and a Tech car that were damaged on delivery. He sold me. They took my car in the body shop to see if it can be fixed. Just got a phone call and was told it would be a $150 repair! I told him this is a warranty repair. I was told it will be rather difficult to get it repaired under warranty because I bought the car back in Jan and in has close to 3k miles. I laughed and told them to get it in the shop. My point?

All dealers are in it for the money. they do not want to do warranty work because they lose out....

Even my dealer which I trust and have a strong relationship with is trying to pull one over on me. No worries though! I will talk to the general sales and service manager and the owner and have this repaired under warranty, GUARANTEE!

What exactly is wrong with your bumper? Do you have pics? Two of my bumper tabs on the core support are broken off and being that I come from a family that owns a body shop I fixed it myself because I trust no one.

That's exactly how I feel! I did not want to fix it. I knew about the problem when i took delivery. But, like you said, i trust no one. The front right bumper under the headlight where it meets the fender is poped out some. I do not have pictures since i am at work. It was nothing outstanding. I assume it is either not aligned properly or a broken clip/guide. They notified me before they started the detail work so as to not be held liable. They offered to have the body shop look at it. Called me back said it would be 150, i said fix it and will handle it when i pick up the car.

Today while at my local dealer again, I asked about the progress of the Shelby 350 engine swap and the answer I got was.....it's still here. Not sure wtf the hold up is. Last time I asked they said they had the new engine in and was installing it right then and there.

unbelievable. certainly seems something amiss, either in the supply of parts, or techs for the engine swap.
