Found this Car and Driver article about Stang vs Camaro vs Challenger.
http://www.caranddriver.com/compari...ng-performance-data-and-complete-specs-page-5

Admittedly my salesman didn't tell me squat about the car, I just instantly fell in love and bought it.

The article states 93 octane is what our car takes. We don't have 93 octane here, and I going to mess my engine up with 91? I'll get some additives if I have to but that's kind of a pain in the arse.

The manual says you can put as low as 87 into the 5.0, so you're fine with 91.

I run 87 100% of the time in daily driver mode, 2 years 8600 miles and zero issues.

None of the manufacturers require 93 octane as it wouldn't be 50 state emissions capable. The rated power might be at 93 octane so if you use lower octane, the ECU will retard the timing a little and you will get a little less power.

I noticed no difference when running 87 v 93 octane in mine. I like the cost savings, so I run 87octane 99.9% of the time. As stated above, the manual says 87 octane.

93 all day for me, then again I knew buying the V8 would be required for the 435 hp. I wonder what 91 does to the hp, i know a lot of areas dont have 93

93 Octane unleashes the full extent of the motor.

That being said, I've run 87 for majority of the time and haven't really since any different between power or fuel economy. I get 19-20 MPG combined with mixed driving.

I just use 87. Never noticed a diff with 93. I am sure a tune would change that. Now that gas is headed back to $4 a gal many people will stick with 87.

I started out running 87 octane for about the first 10 fill-ups and then decided I wanted the maximum rated horsepower out of my engine and switched to 93 octane, it's been running stronger ever since.

I have an 16' ecoboost with auto transmission, car now modded as shown in my sig.

Still on the fence about adding the Ford Performance tune but getting close to pulling the trigger.

Those who are saying they don't notice a difference between 87 and 93, just letting you know you can't just put 93 in it one day, step on the gas a feel the difference. You'll need to drive it for a bit and cover several driving conditions multiple times before the spark octane modifier can advance the timing enough to gain the power. It won't just "turn on" like some people think, the tables will slowly learn and adjust for the higher octane fuel.

Not quite. Switching from 93 to 87 octane, an immediate difference should be felt if there was one. The computer will immediately pull timing in response to any detected detonation which would reduce power. I've switched each out an noticed no discernible difference. With the coyote, the performance loss is minuscule. I would absolutely run 93 at the drag-strip and the track, but for daily driver duties 93 octane has absolutely no advantage over 87.

The difference hp between 87 and 93 on the ecoboost is quite significant and, I would imagine, should be felt almost immediately as timing will no longer be pulled. Not nearly the same hp discrepancy on the 5.0.
